Oh, new page. Might as well re-post my pic of the record of the vote to re-authorize the Violence Against Women Act. Once again, readers will note that ALL of the Democrats voted Yea, (to re-authorize the bill), and ALL the votes against re-authorizing the Violence Against Women Act were from Republicans.

Just one more thing you can't control. You are going to end up looking foolish again, like you haven't already.

If I remember high school well enough, I shall retort to your taunt with “Sorry, you must be confusing me with someone who gives a crap about you and your opinion.”

It’s getting late, doesn’t the matron want to tuck you in? I’ll buy you something pretty tomorrow. K?

@MontereyJack,
A stupid article and meme where these senators are disqualified because they voted against a bill with women in its title. You guys can do better. Irrational delusions have no place in the process Democrats have destroyed.

And Snopes is a liberal progressive shill.

Voting against one law is not proof anyone is a misogynist or a party is.

We judge legislators by which laws they vote for and which laws they vote against. If you want to vote against the Violence Against Women Act, and these six Republican committee chairmen did, then people will use their own judgment about what these legislators are about.

Judges in Seattle have decided to quash convictions for marijuana possession for anyone prosecuted in the city between 1996 and 2010.

City Attorney Pete Homes asked the court to take the step "to right the injustices of a drug war that has primarily targeted people of colour."

Possession of marijuana became legal in the state of Washington in 2012.

Officials estimate that more than 542 people could have their convictions dismissed by mid-November.

Mr Holmes said the city should "take a moment to recognise the significance" of the court's ruling.

"We've come a long way, and I hope this action inspires other jurisdictions to follow suit," he said.

Mayor Jenny Durkan also welcomed the ruling, which she said would offer residents a "clean slate."

"For too many who call Seattle home, a misdemeanour marijuana conviction or charge has created barriers to opportunity - good jobs, housing, loans and education," she said.

A total of 30 states in the US now allow the use of marijuana for medical purposes. In Washington state, it has been legal for medical use since 1998.

Currently, nine states (as well as Washington DC) have also legalised marijuana for recreational use, subject to regulations about growing and selling the drug.

Across the US, marijuana trafficking arrests (for selling or distributing the drug in violation of bans or restrictions) are falling, according to the US government's own figures.

@coldjoint,
Snopes reports the facts, the evidence, and the history. It's not their fault that right wing memes so often turn out to be pure fantasy. By the way, you will notice from the other preceding posts, Snopes was right.

Pigs All The Way Down

...Regardless of what happens to Kavanaugh, however, this scandal has given us an X-ray view of the rotten foundations of elite male power. Despite Donald Trump’s populist posturing, there are few people more obsessed with Ivy League credentials. Kavanaugh’s nomination shows how sick the cultures that produce those credentials — and thus our ruling class — can be.

Let’s start with Kavanaugh’s high school, Georgetown Prep, also the alma mater of Neil Gorsuch, Trump’s first Supreme Court pick. There’s now a wealth of reporting painting the private school as a bastion of heedless male entitlement. Kavanaugh’s high school friend Mark Judge — who Christine Blasey Ford, Kavanaugh’s first accuser, says was in the room when Kavanaugh allegedly assaulted her — has written extensively of his drunken teenage debauchery. According to The New Yorker, Judge confided in an ex-girlfriend, Elizabeth Rasor, about an incident where he and other boys took turns having sex with a drunken woman. (Judge denies this.)...

Anyone else think the nominee did himself no favors by appearing on network TV (Fox News, of course)? Nominees to the Supreme Court aren't supposed to act like political candidates running for office. The aging florid-faced frat boy just digs himself in deeper by making all these statements. It's embarrassing to behold.

@hightor,
I'm not sure how to weight that one. I suspect there is a clear benefit, via Fox and its audience, of keeping the base angry/motivated. That is undoubtedly the motivation for setting up the interview. But it's impossible to imagine it working anywhere other than Fox.

Leo and Whelan have also worked hand in hand with an affiliated organization, the Judicial Crisis Network, on the communications effort promoting Kavanaugh’s nomination. That effort, which has involved several nationwide television ads on Kavanaugh’s behalf — and before that, on behalf of Neil Gorsuch.

To fund the effort, Leo has raised upwards of $15 million from conservative donors — donors who might be enraged if Kavanaugh goes down in flames.

This kind of money sloshing around DC (and this is merely one tiny sliver of political operations) tells us how things have become so corrupt.

If there is a nick of truth in what his accusers say, his stern denial and assertion of innocence will turn and strangle him.
