@Lash,
Lash, pumping up the economy is not a difficult thing to do if all you want is to see good numbers in the short term. Overturn environmental laws, do away with regulations, cut taxes, let industries do pretty much what they want. But it can be argued that government is shirking its responsibilities. What are the consequences of unlimited corporate power? Is the corporate bottom line the measure of a country's success? Have you seen the projections for the Medicare and Social Security trust funds? Does the structural deficit mean anything at all? How about infrastructure — again, letting it decay is cheaper in the short run but those costs will eventually have to be paid. It used to be that taxes were raised during periods of economic growth; this allowed taxes to be cut in a recession to spur growth. Promising everyone more money gets votes, but is weakening the social safety net for the poor, the infirm, and the elderly a wise trade?

And I don't even want to talk about the trade war — you really think that's going to work out for the best?

@hightor,
You seem to think that because I’m citing very good economic news, currently reported, that I’m convinced all the moves Trump has made are destined to have positive long-term effects.

I pointed out that the chorus from all news outlets that I’ve heard give trump credit for very good numbers, and until the numbers change, he will make great election hay.

@coldjoint,

The fact that Russia was bought into this by an informant or agent [Mifsud] working with British and US intelligence. A set up, everyone can see it except sore losers and those intimidated into silence by the power of the establishment.

Sorry, but your own soure quotes Mifsoud as being connected to Russia, not Brit or US intelligence. McEvers and Ryan are two npr reporters.

Quote coldjoint's own link, npr: Coldjoint's source
Quote:
MCEVERS: And just explain Mifsud. He's not himself Russian. Describe who he is a little bit.

LUCAS: So Mifsud is a Maltese professor. He was working in London, tends to travel a lot.

MCEVERS: He's also a former official in the Maltese Foreign Ministry. He helped negotiate Malta's entrance into the EU.

LUCAS: And has pretty good contacts with officials in a Russian think tank - but that think tank has ties to the Russian government - and people in the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

MCEVERS: And according to these court papers, Mifsud and Papadopoulos first meet in Italy in March 2016. And they keep meeting. They later talk about setting up a meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. Papadopoulos emails his supervisor in the Trump campaign about this and gets a response - great work. And then the court papers say Mifsud and Papadopoulos meet again the following month in London.

Sure looks like Mr. Mifsud is Kremlin-connected, not Western intelligence connected. You seem terribly confused about that. And Mr. Mifsud might be missing for any number of reasons, including attempted self-preservation.

So it looks like your whole story is full of mistakes.

That is incorrect. Bill Clinton signed those deregulations into law.

Yes, Clinton had sparkling economic achievements but he went along with the Republicans on bank deregulations. However, the effects of them were not felt for seven years-where the heck was the Bush Administration for that time?

Clinton had the birth of the internet(by Al Gore Shocked ) to make his economy go. The Dot. Com boom. None of it was his doing.

You mean, that's it? Your whole Grand Overarching Theory Of How The Mueller Investigation Is A Plot just got collapsed into rubble, and all you can come back with is "Oh yeah? Well you guys aren't so good at telling the truth neither!!"

Trump Excludes Brotherhood-Tied Groups from Iftar Dinner[

Among the excluded political groups were the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) and the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). Also excluded were the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), which cater to Muslim immigrants from Arab countries and from the Indian sub-continent.

Good for Trump and whoever is schooling him on Islam. Worth noting because Obama had all these groups at his dinners. Kind of makes you wonder, kind of makes me sure.

That would be a good slogan for the Democrats in the midterms.

Haley to UN Human Rights Commissioner: Border Policy on Children Is Our Business

That sums it up nicely. I hoped she reminded him America is trying to deter illegal immigration. Or asked him why Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries take no refugees. Islamic countries are rarely scolded by the UN.
