Quote:If Hannity didn't actually retain him, why would his conversation with Cohen be covered under attorney client privilege?
Stormy's lawyer, Michael Avenatti, just said on the Lawrence O'Donnell show that he is pretty certain this whole Hannity-is-my-client thing is because there is some document or record involving Hannity which Cohen might have that neither of them want the public to see, so both were eager to establish Hannity as a client of Cohen's so executive privilege can be claimed. O'Donnell said that mob bosses try the same thing-when some illegal activity is planned, make sure a lawyer is in the room to claim executive privilege. However, this ploy does not always work, it's not enough for a lawyer to be present, he has to be actually advising you in his legal capacity.
