@blatham,
If there is evidence that was unearthed as part of the Russia investigation that Trump or any of the people in office have broken any law, related to the election or not, I would expect that every single American would want to see them tried and put in front of a jury. The jury can decide if they are guilty.

That's true of any party, position, etc. If a law was broken, then the trial should occur. That's how our nation works.

Fact is that from all appearances, Mueller is operating under his special counsel mandate. To pursue matters related to the 2016 election and Russia's influence on it, and if there was any conspiracy with the Trump campaign. If during the course of that investigation, he were to say uncover Russian money laundering (for example) then I expect that he would follow up on that crime (because that is ALSO in his mandate). Especially since that puts our President in a possible blackmail situation.

What American wouldn't want this investigation to continue?

IF Trump is guilty of something and he gets impeached, the Republicans get Mike Pence whom, I believe, is in better alignment with what they want.

@georgeob1,
Quote:
In the case at hand I doubt there was any deep conspiracy to force new ideas on others (no matter how well recognition of such phrases may have been researched).
I'm sure you're right. Luntz's work, for example, is really just done out of intellectual curiosity. That's entirely the motive. There's no intent in or even any means by which social research and focus group testing is being used to promote ideas so as to manipulate human behavior. It's never happened.
Quote:
Contemporary progressives have done far more to impose new "epistemological " ideas ( mostly related to the currently fashionable group values (as opposed to individual ones) on the nation's public ... as is well illustrated in the new vocabulary of political correctitude.
That's not merely lazy, it reflects a lack of understanding of what epistemology means.

Well, that is the scary thing. Where "truth" is determined by one's partisan allegiance over and above all else, the front door is wide open for the authoritarian and the dictator. And then questioning him or criticizing him or investigating him becomes profane, a violation of the sacred.

@blatham,
Robyn Gritz, a decorated former FBI supervisor and whistleblower, talks pretty extensively about it.

You must’ve been avoiding that, too.

You seem to be playing that game where you mix in lies with truths in the attempt to make everything you're saying seem truthful when it's not.

How long has this rambling investigation been going on?

Long enough to secure indictments and guilty pleas. What makes you think it's "rambling"?
Quote:
It’s a sham. A tired, corrupt sham investigation to remove a president.

Actually the investigation wasn't designed to "find collusion" or "remove a president". The reason for the investigation was the unprecedented amount of interference in a federal election from a hostile state. The FBI warned the DNC back in Sept of 2015 that it was target of a cyber attack. Then there was Flynn accepting $45,000 for a speech in Russia and lying about meeting Kislyak. Papadopoulos and Manafort were figures of interest before the meeting in Trump Tower. In fact, Manafort's dealings in Ukraine raised enough suspicion that he had to quit Trump's campaign. Then there was the big wikileaks dump — and the effort of the right to blame the leak on Seth Rich. And it's not yet even November. There was plenty of reason to want to get to the bottom of all these unanswered questions and possible crimes. And so the Justice Department authorized an investigation. The Justice Department did not order the investigators to " bring down a president". They were not ordered to "find evidence of collusion".
Quote:
Trump is such a swaggering, careless bull, people who really want him removed should be able to find financial / property infractions.

That would constitute a witch hunt. Let's forget about removing Trump as the endgame and concentrate on securing our election processes and our electronic infrastructure and identifying the challenges posed by anyone — whether it's "a guy sitting on their bed who weighs 400 pounds" or a troll factory with ties to the Kremlin — who wishes to stir up even more division and discord in this sorry country than it already suffers.

The Mueller investigation has issued 19 indictments and obtained five guilty pleas. It is one of the fastest and most effective investigations ever by a special prosecutor. Most special prosecutors take years to finish.
