@blatham,
Of course, Obama authorized killing a tidy number of people by drones, including many innocents.

That Nobel was just a slap at Bush. A sad waste of a Nobel Prize. Obama certainly didn’t deserve it.

This seems legit
Quote:
President Donald Trump’s lawyers are seeking to negotiate a deal with special counsel Robert Mueller that uses an interview with the president as leverage to spur a conclusion to the Russia investigation, according to a person familiar with the discussions.

The president’s legal team is considering telling Mr. Mueller that Mr. Trump would agree to a sit-down interview based on multiple considerations, including that the special counsel commit to a date for concluding at least the Trump-related portion of the investigation. One idea is to suggest a deadline of 60 days from the date of the interview, the person said.

Once again these folks are clinging to their absurd, but necessary, belief that Trump is dumb as a rock.

Stephen Cardinal Bannon said that Ivanka was "dumb as a brick"; the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree.

Seriously, whether the man is intelligent or not isn't the point. His mercurial temperament and excessive ego make a bad combination regardless of how dumb or smart he is. Perched precariously over a simmering stew of assorted scandals it's easy to see his desire to divert public attention and achieve some perceived "historic breakthrough". It's uncertain whether there are enough adults left in the White House to protect him from himself.

I am utterly shocked by this news

Trump's hotel company wrote a $150k check to the Treasury to cover all the "profits" it made from foreign governments. But the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia spent about $270,000 at the Trump International Hotel in DC alone last spring.

@blatham,
It looks more and more like everday tRump is going to appear in a multi day Grand Jury session where tRump will be alone and without a lawyer before a ruthless Mueller interogation.

BTW, does anyone know when the current Grand Jury session ends. Prosecutors like to have the same jury for continuity..

@hightor,
All tRump's intelligence is of a conman, bullying category. It falls apart where confronted with a power such as honesty and law.

They were asking for it though.

@oralloy,
I’m certain establishment Democrats agree with you, oralloy, as they and their political leaders often do.

@Lash,
Yes. Hillary would have been a disaster for America on gun rights. But she was amazing on foreign policy.

I was actually torn who to vote for even on the morning of election day.

I already knew that Trump was going to win (Trump is going to win the next election too, and the Republicans will win at least the next three presidential elections after that), but I still wanted to cast the best vote that I could.

In the end, a liberal friend of mine tried to convince me to vote for Hillary by sneering and telling me that I didn't need to worry about guns because the Democrats were only going to ban assault weapons.

That left no doubt in my mind that I needed to vote for Trump.

It was the right call. If Hillary was president right now it would be a disaster for the Second Amendment.

@Lash,
Kissinger always gives sound advice on foreign policy.

By the way, that is the original of the Statue of Liberty drawing. There are so many cropped and re-saved versions on the internet that I decided to hunt down the original as it was posted by the artist who drew it.

@blatham,
Even a bolshevik like you must know that businesses have operating costs. The average margin of profit for a luxury hotel is 7% so Trump's hotel made about $18,900 off the Saudis. The $150,000 check would have represented about $2,150,000 in revenue which sounds right.

@hightor,
That may be, but that is only part of the narrative the left is spinning. Another part, as I wrote, is that Trump is too stupid to go head to head with Kim.

Which is why I used the word "miracle." Do you even read the posts to which you respond, or do you just take every chance you can find to gratuitously insult Trump?

Alfred Nobel in his will wrote:
The said interest shall be divided into five equal parts, which shall be apportioned as follows: [...] one part to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.
(Bertha von Suttner's [the "Generalissimo of the Peace Movement"] friendship with Alfred Nobel had an impact on the contents of his will.)

@Walter Hinteler,
Walter, I am sure you already know this but the American rightwing fascists are jealous because they can't win the Nobel, but it is a Peace Prize, peace being a foreign concept to them. These ideoogies are far beyond their ability to think, being shallow thinkers.

Have you ever listened to Bannon, or agreed with him on anything else? This is selective credibility and it highlights your hypocrisy.
