@Setanta,

Less than half of the crew Trump brought with him to the White House remains
Quote:
Presumably knowing what was coming, President Trump on Tuesday assured the world that he could hire absolutely anyone he wanted to.

“It is a great place to be working,” Trump said of the White House during a news conference with the Swedish prime minister. “Many, many, people want every single job. I read where, oh, gee, maybe people don’t want to work for Trump — and, believe me, everybody wants to work in the White House. They all want a piece of that Oval Office. They want a piece of the West Wing.”

This argument was undercut a bit a few hours later when it was announced that Trump’s chief economic adviser, Gary Cohn, was leaving the White House.
[...]
By our analysis, of the 23 people sworn in that day that we could identify, only nine still remain or have not planned an exit. (One, Andrew Bremberg, was reported to be planning an exit in November, but is still in his position.)
... ... ...

I don't know what news reports you're reading. It seems pretty clear to me.

Quote:
An adult film actress embroiled in allegations of an affair with Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against him alleging that a non-disclosure contract she signed is invalid.

Stormy Daniels says the agreement, drawn up before the 2016 election, is "void" because he did not sign it.

Mr Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, confirmed last month he had privately paid her $130,000 (£95,000).

The lawsuit alleges that Mr Cohen tried to "intimidate her into silence."

I'll try to break it down into bite size chunks. Stormy Daniels cannot tell/sell her story because that would violate the non disclosure agreement she signed. If she can have the courts say that said non disclosure agreement is invalid she can sell her story and make a lot of money.

@hightor,
checking in late here

has anyone posted a full translation of the statement from North Korea?

I heard one this morning and it's not quite what some in the US believe it to be.

Well maybe she just wants to tell her story. Whatever her motivation said non disclosure document stands in the way of that.

Why are you so concerned about the motivation of a porn star, and so disinterested in why your president is so desperate to shut her up?

Trump's tariff threat may be timed for Pennsylvania U.S. House race(BI)

Quote:
Some Republican strategists said Trump's tariff threat appeared to be timed, at least in part, to sway voters in the steel country of Pennsylvania, including its 18th District where Republican Rick Saccone and Democrat Conor Lamb are facing off.

@izzythepush,
I’m not concerned. Just interested.

I mean—although I don’t expect to be uplifted by the details—I think the possibilities of the sideshow will be unforgettably entertaining.

But! She willingly signed an NDA. I don’t think anybody should ever sign one, but she accepted money to shut up about it.

Then, she sued Trump for paying her to shut up? Nonsensical.

Yes. The two main vectors of this attempt have originated either with the religious right or corporate interests where profits were threatened.

I recall reading an article a couple months ago about a recent study that gave Darwinism a major kick in the teeth.

I was going to go post it in one of the threads fighting over Darwinism, but I'm so busy that I never got around to it.

Two men. Two exceptional men who are great leaders, quite possibly two of the greatest leaders in history, and they both want more than anything else to see a healthy democracy in America.
Quote:
Russian President Vladimir Putin lavished praise on President Donald Trump on Wednesday, but added that he was sorely disappointed with the U.S. political system, saying that it has been “eating itself up.”

Speaking in an interview with the Russian state television, Putin described Trump as a great communicator.

“I have no disappointment at all,” Putin said when asked about the U.S. president. “Moreover, on a personal level he made a very good impression on me.”
TPM

The most fundamental character trait that makes them so great is their honesty. You can always depend upon that. Another trait that runs a close second is their very evident respect and their sincere empathy for others. We love these two fine leaders and we thank God for them.

@Lash,
Actually the more interesting part of this story is whether Trump violated election law in paying off Stormy Daniels.

Several White House staffers have been terminated or reassigned for issues related to their security clearances — with at least one individual employed in the Office of the First Lady relieved of duty, sources with direct knowledge tell ABC News.

There is a list of several other individuals with security clearance issues that are under consideration for possible termination or reassignment in the coming days, sources also tell ABC News.

@Lash,
Who cares about what a porn star does, honestly who cares what their motivation is? They're a porn star ffs. What the president gets up to should concern everyone.

Trump wants her quiet, why?

@blatham,
I knew it . . . I knew it was a vile commie plot.

I do have some sympathy for the poorly educated, confused people whose world view is overturned by mere science. But the true scum bags are the phony preachers and the greedy corporate types who forward the narrative solely for personal gain.

U.S. Steel CEO David Burritt told CNBC on Wednesday his company will reopen a steel plant in the United States due to President Donald Trump's steel and aluminum tariffs.

"We're really excited to be able to tell our employees in the community in Granite City, Illinois, that we will be calling back 500 employees," Burritt said during an interview with "Squawk Box."'

@MontereyJack,
Duh...are you going to have them confined to their homes under house arrest? The last time I checked there were a few venues other than schools where kids come into contact with one another.

But let's discuss your simple plan.

Apparently, you are prepared to deprive these children of not only a public education, but a private one as well, because of a decision made for them by their parents.

I know you are in favor of allowing the so-called "Dreamers" to remain in America based on the premise that their illegal status is the result of a decision made by their parents and not them, so would you please explain why the Dreamers should not be punished for the sins of their parents, but the Unvaccinated should.
