@Lash,
Lash wrote:

It is comical that you call that protest in support of NHS.

That's some tortured bias; a great example of the type of bias that we find in our MSM.

No, it was not in support of the NHS. It was a demand/plea to improve a system that no longer works for the people. "More beds" means they can't get in to hospitals or get pushed out before they've properly recuperated. "More doctors" means they have to wait too long to be seen when they're sick, risking unnecessarily stronger illnesses due to neglect.

"Saving money costs lives" means people are dying because of the inability to receive care.

The protest was not celebrating these facts.

Wow; that's some spin job.

They're protesting for MORE NHS not less of it. That's the definition of support for a system of healthcare. They're upset because they can't get enough of a great thing.

It's like a child protesting because they can't have candy for breakfast. They're not protesting because they hate candy and think it should be abolished.

Perhaps you've been at the wrong demonstration? Or perhaps you don't know the background, namely what the Conservative government (and Brexit) did/does with the NHS?

Since some Labour friends were co-organisers of the demonstration, I'm sure I know what I'm talking about.
Besides that - it was covered by all media.

Faking tv reports, you should have add. And even the right UK-papers reported about it. ...

@maporsche,
Lash is throwing out the typical right wing line on government managed healthcare. Like all Bernie Sanders' supporters do.

Pre-Obamacare, the US was the only modern western nation without some version of gov managed healthcare. All others have this.

And in not a single one of those nations, which have had their programs in place for many decades, is their any significant political constituency that wishes their system eviscerated and replaced by an American style system. Not a single one.

@Walter Hinteler,
I didn't know what you were referring to. Now I do. Unfortunately. We have such a classy president.

Quote:
On Twitter, Trump called Schiff "one of the biggest liars and leakers in Washington," adding that he "must be stopped."

Schiff quickly shot back that: "Instead of tweeting false smears, the American people would appreciate it if you turned off the TV and helped solve the funding crisis, protected Dreamers or ... really anything else."

I wish there was a way to get around the baby in the WH, not to mention his parents who spoil him.

@Walter Hinteler,
Whatever Lash fantalises are here: the demonstration was called "Fix the NHS", the organisers were nurses, doctors, patient campaigners and unions organised in two pressure groups, the People’s Assembly and Health Campaigns Together - the rally aim was "to call on the government to plug funding and resource gaps in the health service". They demanded more beds, more staff and more funds from the Tory Health Secretary and PM May - that's the reason of the route the march took (from Gower Street to Downing Street).

@Walter Hinteler,
I cannot tell you how many times I or my brothers or Canadian friends who have traveled or lived in the US have been told by Americans - and told with utter certainty - that the Canadian medical system doesn't work and that our "opinions" are wrong and are a result of leftist propaganda.

The protesters chanted: “Keep your hands off our NHS.”

The Conservative health secretary, Jeremy Hunt, tweeted in response to Trump on Monday, saying that while he “may disagree with claims made on that march … not ONE of them wants to live in a system where 28m people have no cover.

Hunt added: “NHS may have challenges but I’m proud to be from the country that invented universal coverage - where all get care no matter the size of their bank balance.”

@blatham,
Actually it's not just that.
Lash has several times proclaimed whom she supports where and why.
Now, there has been a demonstration by "the people"(wiki: People's Assembly, / homepage Health Campaigns Together, and she gives that a 180 degree turn. Totally neglecting the facts, even those by e.g. the UK's Conservative government (the aim of that march) - see ehBeth's link.

You post and Walter's will most assuredly lead to Lash's admission that her statements were quite wrong. Further, in considering why she got it so wrong, she'll lay out her information sources to demonstrate how she became this misinformed.

A good read on how the Kochs are attempting (with some real success) to plant ideological allies into major universities through mega-donations.
Quote:
Cushman said there have been some protests to his program at Wellesley, but that he also has a well of support. He said he has control over the program and isn’t beholden to donors.

When Cushman was asked if he would consider a speaker like Jane Mayer, the New Yorker writer and author of “Dark Money: The Hidden History of Billionaires,” a book that’s highly critical of the Koch brothers, the answer was no.

“I don’t think the Mayer book is balanced at all,” Cushman said. “I try to look at it as a scholar.”
Boston Globe
The last sentence is the big con.

In this day and age, when conservatives/republicans talk about fair and balanced, they mean balanced in their favor. So now the Koch brothers are planting conservative political ideologue's in universities and will begin censoring books according to their political views? They are like a diseased plague spreading across every nook and cranny of the US.

@Lash,
You're talking ****. People are protesting about the underfunding by our Tory government. The NHS is loved, and those people, some of whom I actually know, were marching in favour of the NHS.

If you take your tongue out of Trump's arse for a second you might find out what's actually going on.

Btw, those same people marching in support of the NHS will be protesting against Trump if he ever grows the balls to come over here.

Not to worry. She's coming back with a correction and will explain to us how she became this misinformed. Because she has integrity.
