I feel sorry for naive and trusting people who get conned by a crook working out of Nigeria or Russia. Likewise I feel sorry for these poor bastards

Yeah, that sounds plausible. She's bad. And she's cold, eh?

Quote:
Feinstein blames 'bad cold' for handling of Fusion GPS transcript

Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein seemed to blame a “bad cold” for the controversial way she handled the release of an interview transcript for the co-founder of the firm behind the anti-Trump dossier.

"The one regret I have is that I should have spoke with Senator Grassley before. And I don't make an excuse but I've had a bad cold and maybe that slowed down my mental facilities a little bit,” she said.

Well, then again, maybe not, eh?

How can ya "slow down" something that done completely stopped? Don't make no real sense.

This neither, eh? "I don't make an excuse but [here's my excuse]."

But according to new data from a year-long SurveyMonkey assessment of Trump’s approval ratings, which Ron Brownstein has broken down for us, it seems Trump’s weakness among women is intensifying as his presidency unfolds, even — and particularly —among the white working-class women who did support him at robust levels in 2016.
Ed Kilgore

I don't get it. Why would women feel that Trump isn't the ideal leader? I'm going to make some guesses:

1) He's a vulgar bully who says very nasty things about women who criticize or stand up to him.
2) he brags about his dick
3) he screws other women while married
4) a previous wife accused him, in a sworn deposition, of raping her
5) he's doing everything he can to take affordable health care away from less well-off families and if there's anything women desire and feel happy about is watching their husbands and children and grandchildren sick and dying

@blatham,
Well it doesn 't help that he's a fat, rumpled blowhard who never gets his frigging suit jacket pressed, coifs his cotten candy hair into a nostalgia tribute to his late mother's hair-do. His eyes are ringed with fried egg white circles and he looks like he stinks of "Brut cologne and tic tacs'.

@blatham,
I think 2 - 4 are largely irrelevant when it comes to making voting decisions.

1. maybe/slightly
5. most likely of those offerings

1 - 4 were true about him before the election. The only thing that has changed is what he has done since being elected.

I think his ratings are dropping among women and men for similar reasons.

Women may be catching onto him faster? don't have anything invested in him as they're, well, not men? certainly when you look at the numbers in non-white women , the numbers are even worse. they're not men and they're not white.

The further you get from #45's demographics, the less you have invested in him and his electoral success and can just focus on what he's doing.

@ehBeth,
which sort of takes us back to Oprah

if she can bring Democratic voters out in 2018 ... bring her on

Oprah Could Be Great for the Democrats. In 2018.
Stop wasting all your energy worrying about the presidency. It’s the Senate that has the real power, and celeb clout can help there, too.
By JEFF GREENFIELD January 10, 2018

Quote:
the most urgent political question is whether Democrats can retake the Senate next year. While the capture of the House is more probable, the significantly greater power of the Senate is where much of the change that has taken place under Trump will accelerate or grind to a virtual halt.

Quote:
And this is where Oprah comes in. She is the one figure in public life whose presence in communities around the country could make a significant difference in voter turnout. With her money, her fame and her drawing power, Winfrey could spend the next 10 months organizing public events to spur voter registration. She could bring celebrities of all sorts to her side in cities all across America, from Ashtabula to Zebulon. And she could make sure—with her own resources and others—that the logistics are in place to keep an aggressive voter registration effort alive long after she leaves.

This could all be done on a nonpartisan, tax-exempt basis; but given the fact of political life that Democratic-inclined voters are less likely to cast midterm votes, an Oprah-centric voter registration campaign such as this would inevitably mean more Democratic votes would be cast. (As a side benefit, this effort would help Ms. Winfrey learn whether she has the stomach for a presidential campaign.)

It’s understandable that the president’s biggest foes are obsessed with removing him from office—if not via impeachment or the 25th Amendment, then by voting him out in 2020. By that time, however, a Republican Senate will have put dozens more judges on the courts and sanctioned more decisions that touch American life, from the quality of our air and water to the nature of our justice system and beyond. And that’s why it makes urgent sense for Oprah to aim her unequaled personal power at the most genuinely consequential source of political power.

@ehBeth,
No big disagreement. As it happens when our affinities for someone start to go south, we begin to see/admit other related or peripheral negatives and it often snowballs.

@ehBeth,
I would love to see Oprah get highly active from now through November. She could have and surely would have a big effect on organizational activities and on GOTV. And as suggested, this would give her a taste of the work involved.
