@gungasnake,
I see gungasnake is still fascinated by an ex-president's genitalia — think of it — still, after all these years.

@gungasnake,
I hardly see that statement by the Club of Rome as anything to raise even the most conservative eyebrow. Obviously if your goal is to halt and reverse environmental degradation, which is currently occurring on an industrial scale, it's necessary to change human behavior. Western culture, now exported worldwide, has helped certain destructive habits to become pretty much ingrained in our social behavior, such as the pursuit of short term gains over the need for long term planning. The failure of humans to accurately gauge the consequences of pollution and to put a price on the damage it causes needs to be seen for what it is — a relic of a primitive mindset which was fine, even necessary, for the survival of our distant ancestors but needs to evolve in the light of present day conditions.

Humanity is obviously it's own worst enemy here but the Club of Rome wouldn't be addressing an audience of humans if it didn't believe we had an active role to play in solving the problem.

I could buy that if his Tweets didn't sound like an unfunny Archie Bunker. His tweets are the way 70 year-old white men think about things. A 70 year olds attitude expressed with a 4 year olds vocabulary.

As if I care.

Obama, for whatever mistakes he made or conflicts one might have with his politics, is an obviously decent man who conducts himself honorably and tried to act in the best interest of Americans.

By all indications, Obama is an excellent husband and father. That is all I know about his "decency." He wouldn't have been the first indecent man to hide behind a public persona, but this is immaterial. I care less about the "decency" of a president than how they perform.

Trump has personality flaws and so did Clinton, Nixon, Truman, FDR, Wilson etc etc etc. The difference between him and other presidents is that he doesn't have the good political sense to keep them hidden.

When asked, in one of the debates, what she admired in Trump, HRC answered the job he had done raising his children. I don't know if you have kids, but I can tell you that thoroughly indecent monsters don't raise well adjusted and loyal kids.

Anyone who thinks straight and speaks honestly would be worried with this man in charge of a small city council, much more so with him holding the reins of power of the US government.

Yet another of your pompous and presumptuous pronouncements which translates to "If you don't agree with me you are (fill in the blank with your choice of pejoratives)"

A truly childish response.

Np, Finn - decency is not "immaterial". We call our politicians liars or adulterers or embezzlers when they are, because it matters. Trump is a perverted, lying, self-seeking son of a bitch. And it shows. And it matters.

He doesn't keep them hidden because he has never been held accountable for any of his wretchedness or incompetence. Because of people like you who will find a way to somehow rationalize any nasty thing he says or does until the rest of us are supposed to think it approximates normal behavior for a president.

Well, she had to say something, didn't she?
By all indications, Trumps's a selfish insensitive jerk who's raised a bunch of entitled, clueless jerks. I think that hunting big game for trophies is an indication of the boys' values and I think that for all her high-sounding non-words (like "architechting") Ivanka is an empty headed opportunist who was born on third base and thinks she hit a triple.

You really need to find another pejorative to use on me than "pompous", Finn. You've cornered the market on pompous condescension and pretense; no one else can really do it like you.
I reject your characterization of my arguments as if I insult when someone doesn't agree with me. It's a logical fallacy from an unrepresentative sample - my distaste for your views doesn't translate into anything else but just that.

@snood,
I do think Finn does have a point in his last response. He doesn't seem to have many traits of empathy and To debate with Finn on these issues is like a neuro scientist such as Sam Harris debating theologians. It is like debating a blind person about color. Snood not all people have the ability or perception that you have.

It is good for the audience on both sides because of confirmation biases.

What evidence do you have that parties do not behave this way at times? I am not saying they are doing this but I do think it to be naïve to think that it is not a possibility. Just look at the DNC lawsuit and what has been recorded in in this law suit about how the peoples vote can be manipulated and the DNC thinks it is their right to do so.
