He remains welcome on Fox and is a member in good standing of the modern conservative crowd.

Griffin, on the other hand, has done only this single idiotic act. She's been canned by CNN and criticized by everyone I've read who has commented on the matter.

There's no equivalence here.

She's less a nobody than you are, I agree. But one TV show per year doesn't make her the representative of the "left" like Donald Trump said it did. Whether she has 2 million twitter followers or not, for whatever that's worth.
