In fact, here is a "righty" in rural Idaho who did something similar with Obama

He says the sheriff in town gave it a thumbs up and police officers were stopping to take pictures.

I don't remember this being national news, but Trump supporters have been looking for their safe space for a few months now, which is why they're so offended about this.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's messed up. I think the Obama one is messed up too. I just take offense when people claim that it's only one side or the other with this problem.
