Abuzz Guilt

This is to the several who are concerned about the Rainforest thread, located in Abuzz, and whether a new one should be opened here. Upon further mulling over the topic, here are some other reasons that I think the status should remain quo, at least for now. To do otherwise would be to combine a sticky wicket with an opened can of worms.

First of all, the demise of Abuzz has long been expected, but it has not happened yet - and may not happen for a long time. It is frail and fragile, but its hosting of the Rainforest thread continues to operate.

Second is the situation that over 200 separate accounts have been opened by Rainforest clickers or would-be clickers. Who among us would want to contact each of those account-holders to extend an invitation to come to A2K? Even contacting the active or from-time-to-time clickers would be challenging - and some of the clickers are mostly invisible to us. Email contact is often out of the question, and online invitations are not to be extended. The alternative, selective invitations as contrasted with mass invitations, feels uncomfortably clubby to me.

Third is the close association between the Rainforest threads and Abuzz, especially by our titular leader, Andrew T. He made a personal donation to Care2 in the name of Abuzz, and the text in our clicking team's Profile page says the majority of the team clickers are from Abuzz. To topple all this, in effect, would have much in common with a hostile takeover.

Anything to avoid looking like a hostile takeover. I'd saddened that a few see this as a rival site. I'd rather have no Abuzz crossover than Abuzz crossover with ill will. This site was not made with Abuzz in mind. It was made to replace the Raven's Realm and to continue my web development experience.

Why, oh why, does this site have to be married to Abuzz? Schniff. It's like a forced marriage. Whaaaa Crying or Very sad

I'm not married to Abuzz or this site, Craven. I'm dating both non-exclusively. Please don't mention this to Setanta.

Aa - about the rainforest group. There are really only about 40 (maybe 50 at a push) clickers. There are well over a hundred that have NEVER clicked in this race. The names carried over from earlier races, but the members did not follow.

Sending emails to the members from within the account is not nearly as difficult as making contact with Andrew is! He has actually lost the ability to access the master account from his computer. You and I are the only 2 with the password and ability to access the account.

I will continue to be involved with the site from Abuzz - it is my home there. Most of the active clickers are here already - there is literally only a handful that hasn't at least been for a visit here - temper is one of them - and she is one of the most devoted clickers.

I hope that by the time Abuzz becomes inaccessible, if it does, I will have been able to make some kind of direct contact with Andrew to discuss how the group can continue outside of Abuzz.

I've seen people here who are new to us and who seem like they'd be interested in something like the Rainforest group. I'd love to ask them to join, but that would either mean finding a way to send them to Abuzz or posting a thread with a team link here. Neither seems like the right solution right now. Maybe never.

Well, it's makin' me crazy, Boss . . . i kept tryin' to log-in under my old screenname, it would give me the "Thank you for logging in--please wait a moment page" and then send me right back to the log-in page. So i registered under a different e-mail address, and now it recognizes me immediately under that user name as soon as i go to the site, but i can't log-in, because i don't have the password. Apparently, the site thinks it sent me a password, but there is no mail from p45 in that mail box . . .

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAA . . .

apart from that, i'm having a lovely evening . . .

I haven't been back to aBuzz in a couple of weeks, really... and I don't feel too bad about it at all.

beyondmainstream.com fizzled from lack of a quorum. Too often is was edgarblythe and myself. I'll stick around here when I have the time, but real life is getting way too intrusive.

Question: What'll we do if jespah gets a real job?

And me a couple of times! The reason I stopped posting to byondmainstream.com is that Google picked up all my posts there.

Joanne,

Google has spent the last few days indexing this site. The posts here will probably be included in Google shortly.

Any reason you don't like google?

Can we start a list of people we want to see invited as the process permits?

I am thinking now of Paola L, who has been a good abuzz person, and several on the art threads.

Oooooh, Imagonnabeongoogleagain, again, gonnabeongoogle again, sing it now!

sozobe,

I sometimes like to think of my handle as being short for "Aaaaaah!" - a positive reframing never hurt!

ehBeth,

I assume you have a current email address for Andrew T., right?

ossobuco - send me a PM re who you want invited. Just 'cause you don't see 'em yet doesn't mean they weren't invited.

Oh, and
