This is off topic, but I got to thinking about a picture I saw a few years back. It was a palestinian, lying on his stomach, shooting a rifle at jews. He had two 2-3 year old kids sittin on his back--as "human shields" or camouflage, or both, maybe.

Now suppose you were a jewish soldier, out in the open with no place to take cover, and you spotted this guy while he was spraying bullets all around you. Would you shoot back, and risk hitting the children?

Well, his choice would seem to be

1) Do nothing and hope the Palestinian is a poor shot, but be prepared to die

2) Fire at the enemy and hope you are a good enough shot not to kill the kids.

This would be a deeply personal decision and I wouldn't find fault with anyone choosing 1 or 2.

1. I don't think that I would do any thinkin about it at all. If you're trying to kill me, I shoot back first, and ask questions later. It would be instinctive.

2. But, if I did think about it, it would go along these lines. You're putting your own kids in severe danger in the hopes of killing me? Well, OK, then. That's what you asked for. They're your kids, not mine. I'm sure not gunna care more about them than you do, let alone more than myself.

I'd be doing the world a favor if I could prevent kids from being raised by a parent like you.

Those aren't questions that science can address. Nor do I think they are pertinent until the science issues are resolved.

Are you surprised at the level of denial? I really wonder why certain topics, in nations that supposedly value free, open and honest discussion, are off limits. It just doesn't square with the jargon.

The tempo is building. You just never hear much of it because of the press. They are as frightened as all the other scared rabbits.

Do you recall how the news stories of 9-11 all talked of explosives, controlled demolition, this isn't possible without explosives and then the next day that was silenced?
