Smile Good night to all.

The rooks are back.(Corvus frugilegus). Large flocks are flying over our house every morning and every evening. Like all god tourists they stay at the city borders and visit downtown during the day.
They are so elegant riding the wind.

Diane, that is such a beautiful photo you have for your avatar-- did you take it? I'll presume it's New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment?

We've clicked!

The renters have finally moved out of my m-i-l's house although they left quite a mess for us to clean up. It's amazing how little respect some people have for others and their property. My mom would have smacked me silly if I'd left someone else's home or yard in that condition when I moved out - and, I think that just on my own, it would have been too embarrassing to leave a mess like that for someone else to clean up. I was alway taught to give something back to someone in better shape than you received it in. Oh, well, they're gone, and the buyers have agreed to all of the terms of the contract, so now all we have to do is wait to sign some more papers, and then sign some more papers, and then probably some more papers, and then we'll be done with that part of the process...

We're getting there!

I mentioned that yesterday that my daughter and I were able to see the plume of steam from Mount St. Helens early in the day because the air was so clear - tonight on the news, they were showing a panoramic view - taken today - from one of their helicopters flying over the Seattle/Tacoma area and you were able to see all of the major Cascade peaks from Mount Baker near Canada all the way down to Mount Shasta in California! It was very cool!

Congratulations, Matrix, on getting the renters out. Some of them can make it extremely difficult and costly. Of course, cleaning up the mess they left is costly, too-- in time, effort and money. Some people have absolutely no class.

About the paperwork, when I was a realtor, we used to say it takes more trees to sell a house than to build one!

Matrix,
Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about re the renters. I had five rental properties in Tacoma during the '70's. Really sad the way they treated the property - and each other. A whole different world apart from what we think of as normal behavior.

We appreciate the updates on Mt SH...... Thanks. How is Mt Baker doing? I used to fly really close around the summit - it was steaming constantly during the early '90's. For those who know about mountain flying - I was careful to avoid the downdrafts and crosswinds - mountain flying is an art and must be understood and respected to survive. We got some really nice upclose and personal photos.

For those who don't know - Mt Baker is a 10,700 + foot mountain about 10 to 15 miles S of the Canadian border just E of Bellingham, WA.

Just Susan, I found the photo on Google's Images. It is of New Mexico. When Dys and I start camping, we will be able to start taking our own photos. We just got an RV, so we'll be heading out for out-of -the-way places. I was reading an article in the doctors office of a book on where to go to see wild horses. THAT is a must see for us, also Chaco Canyon, Carlsbad and lots of areas in Colorado. He knows Colorado like a book, having been born there and spending time with his grandfather every other summer. Lots of good sories as well.

Matrix, it is so interesting to hear your reports on Mt. St. Helens. Like Panzade's thread on the hurricanes, it's good to know what other a2kers are experiencing--and that they are safe in the case of those in the path of the hurricanes.

Dannon, I sent Sumie my password without being absolutely sure I remembered it correctly.

See you all in a couple of weeks!

Oh, I did click today.

No kidding! And, although the buyers and their realtor seem like extremely nice people, the buyers speak very little English and their realtor speaks very broken English, so it's making the process drag on and on even longer. At least they want to buy the house, and I think that the neighbors will like them!

danon...

You're right, it was Mount Baker that I was meaning to put down instead of Mount Adams, although all of them were in the panorama that they had on the news (thank you for catching that! Smile ). It was incredible how clear everything was the past couple of days, and I was right when I said that they were able to see all the way down to Mount Shasta. Smile

They've been having regular news conferences on Mount St. Helens every day and the local cable station carries most of them. The dome inside the crater is now steaming constantly and the floor of the entire crater is becoming extremely hot. Here's the latest:

Hi, Diane...

Sorry I didn't see your post there until just now. I'm glad you're enjoying the info on Mount St. Helens - it's a big topic of discussion in this area right now, so I'm always kind of afraid I may talk about it a little too much on this thread, but I've found it to be fascinating for years.

Have a wonderful time on your trip. I loved N.M. when I was there many years ago and Carlsbad was a trip! That whole area down there was just amazing.

Thanks, Diane. That's so sweet of you to offer. I'll keep it in mind, but as busy as my life is here right now, I don't see us traveling anywhere anytime in the near future

I've sent you an e-mail offering to do your clicks for you if you are still having problems clicking and can't do it. If you aren't able to post here or answer my e-mail by late tomorrow evening (my time) then I will check to see if you were able to click on any of your accounts and if not, I'll click for you. Just let me know either here or by e-mail if that's not okay and if it is, just let me know when you're able to click yourself again.

Hope you're still recovering (and quickly!!!) from your bronchitis!
