He has nothing to gain and everything to lose in debating Hillary.

@Setanta,
He's also got a lot to lose if he ducks them. Guess he's got a lot to lose either way.

This is why Donald the cheeto charlatan is a blight on the political life of the United States, no matter what happens in November. If he wins, I see destruction and chaos coming from a man with no plan except to self- aggrandize and live out his ego trip at the expense of all humanity.

If he loses, Donald the petulant will do everything in his power to burn everything down. He will keep his base fired up against the Democrats, saying he was cheated. In fact, I think he's already started floating the story he's prepared to tell for the rest of his life - "the election was rigged". He will do anything and everything except try to salvage some unity between the disparate groups, or even go through the motions of gracious concession as any presidential contest loser has done.

I think you have that reversed. Trump is the underdog in the election and the mud hasn't actually even started being flung it what I am sure will be the most vile campaigns in ages.

A poor debate performance by Hillary will be a disaster for her. No one expects Trump to do anything special, so a loss will not tarnish him a bit. Maybe it will make him tweet a couple more angry tweets, but seriously, how could he be hurt in a debate? He's an open book.

Hillary can't even close the closet door anymore because of all the skeletons.

It's upside down, bizarro world logic that sees Drumpf as having the tactical (or any other kind of) advantage in debates. Not even Donald Drumpf himself believes that - which is why you're going to see him try to do anything he can to limit the scope and number of debates, or avoid them all together.

@McGentrix,
Trump has never dissapointed the wold with his abilities to swallow his own foot. I dont think any amount of coaching will change him. Hes already saying that the entire election process is "rigged".

He fails to recognize that hes the "rigger in chief".

@farmerman,
See? He can only do better than expectations if all expectations are like yours. That's why he can't lose a debate with Hillary. She will become the scream queen we know she can be when Trump is done with her.

@farmerman,
It is rigged, thousands of, (mostly black,) voters are being denied the right to vote because they don't have the right ID.

@snood,
Unfortunately for many of us, 50% of Americans support Trump's ban on Muslims.

This country has gone downhill fast with Trump's leadership.

I agree with Panzade. The slow unraveling we're witnessing would become a sudden implosion, if he had to be faced with answering tough questions under pressure of a one-on-one debate. And I don't think he's terribly bright, but I think he knows that.

@snood,
I agree with Panzade.

The maxim in politics is if you're winning a campaign do not debate: nothing to win and everything to lose.

The losing side always wants to debate.

That's confusing because you and Panzade said exact opposite things. You said Trump had nothing to lose and everything to gain. She said Trump has nothing to gain and everything to lose.

The red is what I forgot to add initially. What problems do you have with the rest of it: "The maxim in politics is if you're winning a campaign do not debate: nothing to win and everything to lose.

@bobsal u1553115,
The problem is you're saying that, because Trump is losing he wants to debate, and he has "everything to gain, and nothing to lose" by debating. Right?
Panzade was saying (and I agreed) that even though he is losing, he doesn't want to get into a one-on -one debate with Hillary because he would "have everything to lose and nothing to gain".

Do you see the difference in what the two of you said? Or do you still think you were saying the same thing (and not the exact opposite)?

@snood,
i think some of both are true. After all, we're talking about a sociopath. He loves media attention, and by so doing, he shows how ignorant he is.
Trump is a pathological liar; he lies 91% of the time.

He may be behind right now, but he's only 5-10 points behind in the polls.

I think he DOESN'T want to debate her because it would hurt him EVEN MORE.

His best chance at winning is to keep his mouth shut and hope Hillary shoots herself in the foot.
