I use photoshop Elements and I was told about GIMP (GNU Imge Manipultion Progrm. Its up to vrsion 2.9 and some like it nd others poo pooh it. Any opinions, examples, or comments?

Eh, I've found it's okay. Truth is, both it and P'shop have parts that just aren't intuitive.

I like it better than paint shop, but as jespha noted it's not entirely intuitive. I dabble with but have a friend who does fantastic stuff with it and he swears by it. He turned me on to it.

are there any tricks unique to it? Im a Photoshop ELements user and I think Ive mined out the stuff I can do with it nd Im not inclined to tqke a full PHOTOSHOP course, even on LYNDA

I think your more of a power user with this software than am I.
I'm pretty sure it's free so just download it and play with it.

It's better than it was - I recall a few years ago it would crash if I scrolled through the font list too quickly.
