@oralloy,
90% of the people want some gun regulation and you claim that the dems are throwing a tantrum. You are doing what you always do, throwing shyt against the wall to see if you cant get something to stick.

Oh?

I'm actually getting my way. I am not throwing a tantrum. I am not fighting to commit grave violations of anyone's civil rights.

For those of you who think this stunt is heroic:

Many, if not most, of these old hippies were in the House when their party had a filibuster proof lock-in of power over the American government.

If gun-controls are so, so important to you and them, why didn't they push them through when they could?

GOP obstructionism for those 2 years is an utterly hollow argument.

The power of the NRA in deciding elections is also an utterly hollow argument. If your Dem "heroes" weren't prepared to lose a local election on gun control issues they are hardly heroes.

Grow up people.

@Finn dAbuzz,
For the first time in my experience I agree with the gist of your post.

Neither do I, but I'm pretty sure I'm against it.

@edgarblythe,
Nah, there have been a few other times, but considering the thousands I've posted, it's still a rare occurrence.

The only thing you are capable of adding to this argument is childish namecalling.

@Finn dAbuzz,
I don't think the sit-in is heroic. I do think it is smart. Clearly this is aimed at winning elections in November. And, it is pretty good strategy. They got their issue in the national spotlight going into an election cycle that is looking pretty difficult for the other party.

Well played, Democrats.

@RABEL222,
Speaking to us who pay attention is not all that useful. Talk with or write your state's politicians. Maybe you do already.

I already acknowledged it was smart; with the caveat that it was because the MSM reporters were pissing themselves over how heroic it was.

It is smart in politics to be cynical, because politics is a cynical game.

This stunt was smart because there is a legion of fools who think it was heroic.

The question is: How many of these heroes were cynical partisans and how many thought themselves heroes? Neither count is an honorable one.

@Finn dAbuzz,
I don't agree with this part of your thoughts. Being in the minority, they did what they had to to try to force the issue into moving. I just hope that if they ever get to be in the super majority again they don't piss it away like the last time.

Is it possible that some of them just thought they were doing a right thing for a good reason? Are there any honorable congresspersons?

Do you really have to ask that question? When they vote as a block whether democrat or republican, there is no question "hero" is a misnomer.

@edgarblythe,
I don't think the stunt was stupid. Obviously it wasn't, because it resonates, in part, with you and, in total, with many others.

Because their fans cheered, though, doesn't make it heroic.

@cicerone imposter,
Yeah I have to. It always seems stupid to me to talk about "all" of any group of people as sharing the same bad character by default. Lawyers and politicians have doubtless earned a lot of their sorry reputations. But I think there are still men and women in those professions who still try to do the right things for the right reasons.
