Well, whenever you come up with a factual reason you can back up, I'm all ears.

Well, Insurance rates go up because insurance companies are in the business of making money. The way they make money is having more money come in than goes out. If more lawsuits are making insurance companies pay more out, then they need to raise their rates to cover the added expense.

Yeah, but I'm not convinced that there have been more lawsuits or that the awards have been rising. Insurance companies also make money investing in the stock market. Could it be that they are not doing so well because the stock market has not been doing so well?

The funny thing is, they do.

You see, the tax cuts and military spending of the last years have left a huge deficit in the amount of Federal money being given to the states.

The states have to come up with the money to keep schools open somehow. So what do they do? The schools have gotta stay open. There's not as much money coming in from the Federal gov't as before. Where do YOU think the money comes from, McG?

They outlawed that one, unfortunately, or I'd be growing a money tree right now. Too bad all my profits would go up in smoke.

Health care premiums go up because of malpractice insurance rates skyrocketing due to doctors being sued.

Prescription costs go up for the same reason.

Prescription costs go up because of malpractice insurance? That sounds more than a bit off.

California made some good changes in how settlements are paid out - that should decrease the size of a lot of jury awards - big hunks of the awards will be going to the state now. The previous governor did some good work there.

Do you honestly believe they would request records so that they can recruit the smartest kids? Isn't it more likely that they are presenting themselves as a viable option to those who probably have no other options?

their major sales pitch.......best and brightest...that's bullshit.....the miltary is good old boy network legacy at the top of the ranks...just like big business and politics.....what the military needs first and foremost is cannon fodder...well trained perhaps, but cannon fodder none the less....so those who are the easiest to lead , mislead, and train to follow orders blindly are the chief target for recruitment........and who are those people? Those with little or no other good options......

I'm going to be nice about this because you just insulted the people who protect your rights to be stupid. Have you ever served in the military? If you had you wouldn't be talking this way. A majority of the MOS's in the Army are support jobs, not combat positions. There are only about 12 MOS's that are combat related. It is in the combat fields that you find most of your brightest people. You can't be dumb as a rock and have such a job. You also have to test to get in and have a certain qualifying score to get certain types of MOS's. I knew more idiots in civilian life then I did in the military.

Were you in the coast guard, or did you ever really serve in combat? Oh I know you were in Bosnia right? Maybe you were in the boy scouts fighting the Nazi's.

Hmm, no. Coming from a military family, knowing a lot of people in the service, I feel completely confident saying that there are a bunch of idiots out there slinging guns, no matter how ya spin it.
