The military should be allowed to recruit the best and the brightest if they want to join. Remember we have an all-voluntary military, and no one is forced to join..

Do you honestly believe they would request records so that they can recruit the smartest kids? Isn't it more likely that they are presenting themselves as a viable option to those who probably have no other options?

their major sales pitch.......best and brightest...that's bullshit.....the miltary is good old boy network legacy at the top of the ranks...just like big business and politics.....what the military needs first and foremost is cannon fodder...well trained perhaps, but cannon fodder none the less....so those who are the easiest to lead , mislead, and train to follow orders blindly are the chief target for recruitment........and who are those people? Those with little or no other good options......

I don't see where there is much room for interpretation, but whatever.

here's what is puzzling me;

if bush is so strong on education, how come my wife and others had to take a 3% paycut rather than getting the col increase. coulda been worse. her sister got a 5% cut.

how come our state just cut the tax credit for teachers that buy supplies and all for the kids in their class just went from a $1000 yearly to $200 yearly?

why does my sister in law have to now mop the floor and otherwise house clean her class room after a day of teaching?

well, that one i know the answer to. they cut the janitorial staff because of budget cuts. maybe we need a "no janitor left behind" act.

if bush is so strong on "gittin' health care ta the people", how come our insurance premium went from $350 to $700 per month.

how come our deductible went from $200 a year to $500?

how come the cost of our medication, including the little pill that keeps my ticker working right, just went from $60 per month to $300?

as far as diversity goes, you may have it in your family, but most don't.

i agree that the whole diversity thing is way overblown. but it doesn't seem like it's going anywhere.

I believe you can blame lawyers for just about each one of those. Not Bush.

Oh yes you can blame Bush. It's called, 'massive defecits passed along to the states, caused by Bush's inept spending of our tax money.' That has nothing to do with lawyers, and everything to do with pay cuts for teachers, fire fighters, and policemen.

Health care premiums go up because of malpractice insurance rates skyrocketing due to doctors being sued.

Prescription costs go up for the same reason.

Do teacher salaries go down thanks to lawyers, McG?

Yes. Did the district superintendants salaries also decrease?

I haven't been able to find a credible source that proves that insurance rates are increasing because of malpractice suits. Insurance companies are gouging away because they know they have a friend in the whitehouse.
