"Horseshyt" to you, but can you disprove the unseen?

Why would I have to "disprove" the unseen?

(Sounds like the title of a grade B movie!)

Given the parameters of the myths and legends of Rome are true, what would make that illogial????

What the hell are you thinking about here?

Well, Frank. Whose horseshyt is the one true horseshyt? Yours, right?

If you go into reading the bible with a preconcieved notion either way, you will read into it your own bias. Does it change the ultimate truth? No! Should the every text be given the parameters required for understanding? Certainly! If not, you will most likely miss the truth.

I KNOW the truth....and the truth is that I do not know the answers to most of the questions you people want to delude yourselves into thinking you do know the answers.

Is there a God?

I do not know.

If there is a God, what is that God like?

I do not know.

If there is a God, what, if anything, does that God expect of me?

I do not know.

Now you try those questions.

The point of debate, and likewise, of the scientific method, and of logic, is not to "disprove" anything, but rather to prove things. Both the religionist and the atheist face insuperable difficulty there.

Disbelief or belief: either can be used to provide an ambidexter license for sin.

Sometimes I wonder why we believe the things we believe.

More than likely.

Given we will say that there is a God, we see that it is likely he will leave us with instructions for happy life....I'm not going to poke around.....the bible informs us of our purpose, our history, and rules for comfortable and peaceful living.

I imagine Frank sitting in a room on the floor curled up in a ball, rocking back and forth mumbling "I don't know...I don't know" Frank, how about looking for the answers before saying they can't be found?

Yep....like I said, I am willing to say "I do not know" when I do not know. But obviously you are not able or willing to do that.

MY GUESS is that you are too afraid of that pathetic god of the Bible to take a chance being honest. You'd rather pretend that you do know.

By the way....my answer to the question, Is there a God? was: I do not know.

Your answer was: More than likely.

Isn't that a cowardly way of saying I don't know?

First of all...I never sit on the floor curled into a ball. I have a great time in life....and I am a very, very active person. (You can verify that with the dozen or so A2Kers I've met and partied with.)

I know plenty....and don't let the fact that I have enough guts to acknowledge when I do not know something...fool you into thinking otherwise.

And don't be so silly as to suppose I have come to my "I don't know" without having done plenty of investigation.

My guess is that you are not pretending that you know the answers to the questions I asked because you've searched for the answers. My guess is you are pretending you know the answers because you are terrified of the barbaric god described in your Bible.

A case for a creator, Lee Stroebol, just a couple reasons.

Why on Earth would I be afraid of a God, that I'm just using to pretend I have the answers? That doesn't make much sense Frank. Why would I choose to make up a God, and live a life to live that is harder, when I could just say that I can't see him? Your logic for my reasoning is totally illogical.

If the "existence of God is more than likely", could you put a figure on that?

90%?

65%?

I have no idea....but it is very apparent that you are.

We agree there, Thunder. Why are you doing things that do not make much sense?

I have no idea....and I cannot fathom the deep seated fears that must contribute to such bizarre behavior on your part.

Perhaps it has something to do with your upbringing.

When you were a kid....did someone tell you that there was a God....and that the Bible was the word of that God?

If "yes"....maybe that is the answer.

I'd sooner accept a lecture from Rush Limbaugh on how to keep thin than one from you on how to be logical, Thunder.

It would be more logical.

thunder; I hardly think Frank has come about his disbelief without considerable meditation. What puzzles me are his pleonastic attacks on religion. I suspect he has a certain envy for those of us who have a legitimate hope.

Why indeed! "....pretend I have the answers?"
It's pretension cause there's no way for you to verify it.

You also choose to make up a God, because you were taught there is.

If your life is "harder" because of your belief, why do you insist on it? Masochist?

What I don't get is that for some reason, he thinks my conclusions have only come from some guy in a robe, or my parents.

A case for a creator is a book that you seriously need to read.

No, but the possibility of there being a God is the best explanation for our miraculous existence.

Nah...that has nothing to do with it.

Fact is that I spend as much time on A2K attacking atheistic "beliefs" as theistic ones.

Do you also suspect I have a certain envy for those of you who have no legitimate hope???

And as for the "pleonastic" charge....I like to think I am as concise as the issue allow.

Sounds like you are hedging a bit there TR

Surely if you believe in God its got to be 100% belief.
