And yet Reagan, campaigning on the same theme, could manage wonderful things. Because, I"m presuming, liberalism must inevitably fail. There is but one true and viable, thus legitimate, mode of governance, conservatism as understood by American conservatives (of a certain sort).

Changing subjects already? I thought we were discussing Obama.

@McGentrix,
Well, you did say this, which hardly restricts the discussion to one man.

I did not "praise" Obama, I considered it real life meeting liberal principles. Obama got into office after making promises he couldn't keep once he found out the truth of what was going on in the world. It's typical liberal "pie in the sky" meets the actual truth of life.

Obama was all hope and change and ended up realizing that he could offer neither.

ATTENTION! (It's way better in the original German, isn't it)

Anybody up for an experiment? A sunday evening reefer party. Rules? None, really. Just get high. Music recommended. Humor? Inevitable.

Perhaps there aren't a lot of reefer fans kicking about here. Or they just need to be alerted to the possibilities. Maybe I'll start a Sacred Stoner Sunday Sabbath thread. Being a conservative gentleman, I set aside Sunday evenings to light up a bowl or several. Things could maybe proceed along the lines of the link below, but online

@revelette2,
Yeah, I read that this morning. We'll have to just wait and see, as always with that court.

Totally off the wall here.

Two months ago while sauntering around a car lot in my home town, I found a little BMW Z3 tucked in behind some other cars. A check revealed it was a 2001 and had only 30,000 miles and was in near perfect shape. One doesn't pass up a find like that so it's now mine. But we had a lot of rain lately and I developed a leak on the driver side where the rag top joints the A pillar. Had some time today to investigate and I think I found the problem, which probably saved me about a grand (had I taken it to the dealership).

And yes, goddamn it is fun to drive.

@blatham,
If that's the only problem with that car, you got a damn good deal.

@blatham,
Happy for you.
Don't get me started on Volvo dealerships..
Ahem, I used to drive sports cars, landed a Volvo from a friend who was buying a Mercedes, thus turning into a stranger to even myself.
Have fun.

@cicerone imposter,
It was a find. About 10 grand your dollars. Tires, rear shocks, fuel filter all that was in need of replacement.

@ossobuco,
I'd started lusting after another one this last summer because it was an extraordinary summer. Tons of little two seater roadsters out and about and I envied every one of them. Did a lot of craiglist searches (Boxters, TTs, MBs, Miatas, Z4s and Z3s). This one was a chance find.

At 18, I got my first car, a Healey Sprite. Twin brother got a MG Midget. Dad had a Volvo. Older brother had a Morgan. And our uncle had the first E Type Jag to arrive in BC.

We had the coolest driveway in town.
