@ossobuco,
sure was. as sports fan, it didn't have a dull moment.

As a Pats fan, I am satisfied that they faced a defensive juggernaut and hung in there 'til the very end!

@CowDoc,
I read a bunch of sports news fast, a life time habit, with a sometimes sieve mind, but I retain impressions, and one of them is that eastern u.s. people tend to be in love with the Patriots. I know it varies, of course.

My other impression is that news sites tend to have an east coast bias.
I'm personally odd as a sports watcher in that early on, I liked teams for other reasons than their proximity to where we lived, but largely others like home teams.

Cowdoc and T. Cowdoc, are you geographical with your team likes? Not my business, of course.

@ossobuco,
Being from Kansas, I don't have any geographical preference, especially since I've been living equidistantly from the Seahawks, Broncos, and 49ers/Raiders. It's hard to have a geographical attraction from that much distance. I tend to pull a bit for underdogs and a "changing of the guard", although I have a bit of a soft spot for the Royals, who were adored by my late mother. The Miz was a Raider fan when she lived in Santa Rosa four decades ago, but those ties have also faded. I tend to be more analytical than emotional, and simply felt that the Patriots were simply unable to handle the Denver defense. I took the Panthers to win it all just because I think the Carolina and Denver defenses are about equal, but it's much harder to match up against Cam Newton than Peyton Manning. But, that's why they play the games, isn't it?

I picked Denver and Carolina to face up in SB. I feel like such a traitor.

@CowDoc,
I picked the Panthers too but I lost at the start by missing the gate and then guessing wrong on the first games. Total blow out, not the worst thing as now I'm free not to care.

I moved around as a growing child and saw yankee games on early tv ('50), some guy I will remember his name in a minute in Chicago baseball, Swaps win the Derby on tv in Evanston and became keen, and so on. We landed in Los Angeles, where I grew to hate the Rams..

Al Davis, oy chihuahua. I'm presently wishing the Raiders well.

@ossobuco,
I got to grow up listening to Harry Caray calling baseball games, but not for the Cubs! In those days, he was broadcasting for the Cardinals on KFEQ, a St. Joseph, Missouri radio station.

I hope the Panthers don't choke and blow the game.

@CowDoc,
Ah..

We had in the LA Times a sort of madman sports writer, name I'd now have to search. I could guess, but not be sure. Murray, I think. I might not like his writing now, he was a lot over the top.
I mix that up as I like a bunch of writers named Murray, especially one who wrote some books re Italy.

@ossobuco,
Yep....that was Jim Murray. I used to read his columns in the 60's and 70's.

@CowDoc,
Yeah. we get each other.

To others, Cowdoc and I have met and like each other. I know others have too.

If we argue, we do it happily.

@ehBeth,
I am. Lol. I know the majority took New England in that game. In fact some has them winning the super bowl.
