Wow, man, what a lucky stiff. Congrats!! I got here late, but was just about to answer all your "time and rank" related questions ( I'm an E-6 in the Army) when I read you dodged the bullet.
I might do it, but only after 16 college credits. I'd have more options and better bonus/college money etc.
But I don't think I will.

The E-1, E-2, etc refers to the pay grade, not the rank of the individual, but military people use both terms interchangeably as kind of a shorthand.
