@djjd62,
Yes DJ, that is a little over the line.

Besides, in a few months you may be wishing that Boehner could come back.

@oralloy,
I wish him well and hope that it is not due to a personal or family illness. He has done a very hard and difficult job for a long time. He has earned a respectful departure and peace of mind.

@Butrflynet,
I wonder if Congressman Ryan has the desire to run for speaker?

@farmerman,
I read he has said no.

Amazing to see Boehner go so suddenly. I thought he had a hard job, but I never cared for the disrespect he exhibited towards the President. I wonder how this will sit with more moderate Republicans. I've already seen where the far right is cackling with glee.

@engineer,
Interesting take from a reporter who spoke with Boehner the night before.

@hawkeye10,
Quote:
But the problems are still there. Conservatives want action, but they are limited by the Senate and a Democratic president. “The crazies have taken over,” said New York Republican Rep. Pete King. Newt Gingrich told Fox News that Boehner faced what he had once faced as speaker. “Part of your party has demands that are not reachable, and they view your failure to reach them as a sign they need somebody new who somehow magically is going to get what they want,” said Gingrich, who stepped down from the position for similar reasons.

True, but of all the people in America it was Boehner's responsibility the most to make sure that the chamber both understands what political reality is and works within it, so he still sucks.

@hawkeye10,
I am open for the counter argument as always but I dont think this guy Boehner has much of a brain or much common sense. It was clear two years ago that he did not have the skills for this job, why was he hanging around? I am thinking he does not know what he is, that in his fantasies he thought that he could do this job.

@hawkeye10,
If he sucked he can thank mentalities like yours. Frogs in a wheelboro would be a snap next to keeping the republican congressional critters rational.

He sucked because we discourage good people from going to Washington, the vast majority of the people currently in Congress are not up to the job. And lets be clear, this is not a function of party, the D's suck as bad as the R's do. For example Pelosi is in unskilled hack as well, though I tend to think she has a better brain and more skills that Boehner.
