When ever you hear about ADHD and other seemingly new conditions requiring medical treatment, look over at Europe and see if they agree. Just because the APA and other US institutions say ADHD exists, doesn't mean it actually does. Worth reading article below illustrating the difference between US and French psychiatry.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/suffer-the-children/201203/why-french-kids-dont-have-adhd

"In the United States, at least 9 percent of school-aged children have been diagnosed with ADHD, and are taking pharmaceutical medications. In France, the percentage of kids diagnosed and medicated for ADHD is less than 0.5 percent. How has the epidemic of ADHD—firmly established in the U.S.—almost completely passed over children in France?"

@HesDeltanCaptain,

Very interesting, Cap. I 've oft wondered whether ADHD might be the "norm" or even desirable state

a) It's what a blogger think,
b) see Samuele Cortese, in European Psychiatric Review, who states that there are "similar rates of ADHD in North America and Europe": Delay of Attention-deficit–Hyperactivity Disorder Diagnosis in France – Reasons and Resolutions

@Walter Hinteler,
Until we get tricorders ala Star Trek we can wave alongside a person's head, everything in psychology is 'what someone thinks.'

@HesDeltanCaptain,
And how is that related to the article by medical doctors from the Psychopathology Unit of the Robert Debré Hospital in Paris? (You do know the differences between psychiatry and psychology, don't you?)

@Walter Hinteler,
Hence my use of the word psychology instead of psychiatry.

@HesDeltanCaptain,
?

Psychiatry and psychology aren't interchangeable, at least not here in Europe ... and France, where your quoted blog-article referred at.
