Gathering in Florida?

Have just read through all 44 pages of this thread (I've had a horrible day and needed cheering up) and want to tell ya'll again how happy I am that we're all getting together.....

With c.i.'s help, I'm working on a 'dinner fun-fest' evening (shhhhh.....c.i. doesn't know I've recruited him yet).....hopefully ~ on the one night (for those one-nighters) when we're all together.

And yeah, I'm cheered up again, by the way!

A few days ago, there was so much haze that the horizon was not visible, the ocean seemed to merge with the sky. Far out, on what would have been the horizon, my husband and I saw a Navy destroyer looking as if it was hanging from the sky, sort of floating on air. It would have been beautiful if it hadn't been a destroyer, with all the implications that go with it.

The Mayport Naval base is on the St. John's River in Jacksonville, just a few miles from us.

I'm so ready to party!

We see a lot of the same with the Canaveral Air Force Station and Patrick Air Force Base nearby, Diane.....

We all need a break.....

I wish we had an even horizon here... Like back home in Sweden. I wanna see some water now! Austria last summer was very nice, but... extreme lack of coastline, lemme tell ya! Last time in Sweden was bloody winter, with ice over the water, soooo, I got some catching up to do!

Rae, any good beachbars nearby? If so, go have one on me, look at the water, and tell me about it! Could also heighten your spirits!

Business idea! Buy a boat, call it the Busted flush, and make a museum out of it! Any carpenters around, gotta have a secret stash built in! Bound to make a zillion!!!

BD, there's some neat beachside bars in Cocoa Beach, tiki roofs, drinks served with little umbrella's, deck chairs, and island music!

We're just gonna have to check all these places out:)

Misti, yes, I want drinks with umbrellas! It is so cold here these days. At least the sun is shining but I am getting tired of winter. I got into the car this morning and it was -11°C.

Oh Urs, it makes me shiver just thinking about it. I can see why you're anxious to get away for awhile, I would be too!

As I said before, it's warming up nicely here, and I expect it will be in the 80's when you arrive. I hope you won't be too uncomfortable.

February is almost over, then we just have to get thru March, it won't be long now said the monkey as he backed into the fan, he he!

Misti, I know March will be over very quickly for me. I am even taking three days off on March 5, 6 and 7! :-) And after that just three more weeks to go!

BTW, it's getting warmer here, too. Only -8°C this morning!

If ya get up later in the morning, honey, it'll get warmer too!!! Now it's only -2°C/28°F.... makes ya wanna ... if it wasn't so early...
