I think Bernie can easily beat Trump. He's got the energy and smarts to make the Donald look as a fool.

We are willing to put a person like trump in the chair as a protest to the elite. Frank is right for a change.

But,...there's no one more elitist in the race than Trump. Rationale?

Trump is a rube, a well known rube. The only thing is cares about is ego and money, and he has no interest is bossing people around, he just wants to make money on what ever the play is.

And he does not even do the money thing well, he has been through bankruptcy a lot of times. But he keeps trying, Americans respect him for that. And he refuses to follow the scripts that the elite keep handing out, we really respect him for that.

George W. Bush not only look a fool...he was a fool.

George W. Bush was twice elected president of the United States.

But as you said...we will see.

I do not, however, expect the match-up.

@edgarblythe,
Sanders:
Quote:
I voted to ban certain types of semi-automatic weapons. I voted for an instant background check. And I voted to close the loophole that currently exists for gun shows.

It is a shame that so many Leftists hate the Constitution. Sad

In fact, if I were forced to make a sizable bet on whether he would lose or not if he were the candidate...I would not hesitate for a New York second in betting that he will surely lose.

That is what I fear. That the country would have to pay for the dreamers dreaming the dream they are dreaming.

It won't be Sanders' fault (or the fault of his supporters). After the 2013 gun control debacle, the Democrats are doomed for 2016 no matter who they nominate.

Soon Justice Scalia will be known as "one of the old moderates".

@Frank Apisa,
Indeed Bush was a fool but 1) he didn't get a majority of the popular vote; 2) Nader helped him win; and 3) he was not strongly challenged by Gore, who in my view did not really want to become president (he partied when it was all over).

@Lash,
A remarkable thing about this is, mainstream media is keeping a lid on Bernie's activities and message. I can only surmise that it's social media getting out the word. For every mention of Bernie, all of the other candidates get hundreds.

@edgarblythe,
I'm not sure if I brought the article yesterday, but you are right, of course. The Ed Show was cancelled by Comcast - one of Hillary's many overlords.

I've been watching how very little coverage Bernie gets in the MSM. Anyone who wasn't sure of the pivotal role played by media has no doubt now.

I'm actually worried about Bernie. He's taking on the most powerful, greedy people in the world. First they use their power like this - cancel his televised support - control what's written in print about him - threaten careers of writers and "journalists" who try to cover him. I hope they'll stop there.

Edgar, do you plan to find a Bernie support meeting on the 29th? Just curious. Smile

Edit: You're right about social media re Bernie. Twitter and Reddit are enormous Bernie bastions. It's so cool to be a part of so many disparate groups forming an alliance to get him elected. Feels wonderful.

@Lash,
The current polling shows Bernie has a ton to make up to even get close. He is down by 40 points or more in some polls.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/us/2016_democratic_presidential_nomination-3824.html

Before you start arguing that Obama was in a position similar to Sanders, you might want to know that Obama was within 9 points of Clinton in some polls in July of 2007 and Clinton was not above 40% in what was a 3 way race at the time.

@parados,
Dude, the stat cited was an aggregate of the past month or 3 weeks. Bernie rises with every new poll. He is rising and she is falling. Her trustworthiness stats are plummeting.

I feel good about his progress - and her supporters feel bad about hers.

@Lash,
The common U S citizen thinks that socialism is synonymous with communism. If Bernie is appointed as democratic contender every republcan big shot in the country will start screaming communist, communist! Bernie will be snowed under by this republican strategism. Which is why I think that republican plants like you are proposing Bernie.

At one time, I was a Goldwater follower. Went to his rallies. I had not particularly cared for JFK and Johnson. Felt betrayed by Nixon in countless ways. But was dumb enough to vote Reagan first four years. Since then, I have come to the conclusion that the Republicans will be the ruin of this nation. Will likely never vote for one again, no matter how reasonable he/she seems. To me, the Clintons and Obama keep some liberal tendencies in play, ultimately give it up for the same interests as the Republicans. Which is my way of saying, 1. a person can change their politics and 2. it is common sense to vote for the only candidate who is fighting to put this nation back together.

@RABEL222,
I hear this fear of the word "socialism" by people who should know better several times a day. The one thing I never respected from a pretty tidy percentage of people who self-identify as Democrats was their cowardice about words like liberal. A negative connotation arises, and you fold.

People who are authentic don't fear words that describe them - they either say the word isn't an accurate describer or if it is, they embrace it - as Bernie has.

If the rest of the country is afraid of the word socialism, authentic progressives will define it and give examples of the socialism that is already thickly woven into the American daily life.

Educate, instead of allowing the ignorant or the movement's calculating enemies to run the narrative.

Meanwhile, let the fake progressives who call themselves Democrats - for what reason nobody knows - cower in the corner.

@Lash,
People who effectively are helping the opposition like you are, Lash, ought to be careful with patting themselves on the back...

...and leveling charges like you are making against others. Some of us are aware enough to realize that there is a difference between "bravery" and "foolhardyness" or "rashness."

You and people like Edgar...are doing more to damage the Dem chances of winning in 2016 than the people you are treating with contempt. You are certainly doing more damage for the term "liberal" than the people who use "progressive" instead.

Fact is, many of us who use the term "progressive" do so in order to differentiate ourselves from the self-indulgent, self-congratulatory "liberals" who allowed the conservatives to fashion "liberal" into a swear word in the first place.

Well, Ed, remember Obama's support in his first campaign for president didn't really get strong until after he won the Iowa primary. That's when a lot of people (including me) started believing.
