I think I do, and don't feel guilty. A lot of "political" things - activism, etc. can be best done at the grass roots or home level. I find most politicians who've been such for a long period to be too ensconced in the status quo to be effective. It's a rare (and usually new) politician that is effective to his/her constituents.
Were you involved in your kids clubs or whatever as they were growing up?
Sure I do.Nearly everybody I know is like that.Nearly-thank the Lord.THey seem to think that they are some sort of big deal.
Have you tried removing mass media from your life?
Yes - My son played sports and skiied (raced) so I ran the hut (concession stands) at both the little league field and the little ski slope in the town we lived in. I loved doing that stuff. I think that's part of what I miss - it's not as easy to be involved in their activities, now that they're both teens. I guess I'm just not ready to let go. (I'm feeling really sad tonight - because my little boy started driving today). Just enjoy them while they're still young - for me it seemed like it would last forever and now I've turned around and they're almost all grown up...
What about you?
What about me?I know better than to use kids for my entertainment. That's as bad as Mathos loving trees and plants and certain specifically chosen species of animals.
Surely that's pretty obvious?
No - nothing's ever obvious with you Spendius.
What are we talking about now? Don't you feel bad for me that I'm feeling sad?
Sorry you feel bad, aidan. At least it sounds like you've raised a couple of good kids. Remember the great times you had with them as kids. Do you have pictures you display of them/that? I love being reminded of good times. Just think though, they're growing into adults. Can you imagine them as your contemporaries somewhat? I mean, talking to them, having a mature adult to adult conversation with them about their lives, colleged, careers and so forth? Sorry. Not trying to be 'preachy'. I'm sure I'll feel the same way you do.
Do you like wine?
I love wine! In fact I had a couple of glasses tonight and I think that's what made me all silly and sentimental (that and seeing my son driving a car - I just thought "Where did my little curly-haired boy go?)
What's your drink of choice?
It's okay.A bit poncy but it's okay under certain circumstances.
Why do you think beer is so popular?
pinch, poke, you owe me a coke, Spendi
It's refreshing! Especially on a hot day.
Is beer popular with you?
Yes.
Have you ever tried six pints of John Smith's Extra Smooth?
No, if I drank six pints - I'd be under the table.
Do you believe in moderation?
Not with me so much - I'm a "whino". I like Mike's Hard Lemonade, coffe liquer drinks & sweet stuff like Baileys, Frangelico, Kahlua ...
(I was going to offer to have a drink with you, aidan, but I guess you're already ahead of me!)
What is your favorite subject to talk about?
Certainly.I'm a very moderate sort of cove actually.
You have heard of the "middle way" haven't you?
I like to talk about everything. I like to talk - probably too much. It's easier to say what I don't like to talk about - stuff like science and really factual, technical stuff - computers, etc.
What was your favorite subject in school?
The girls school across the way.
Was that remiss of me?
Psychology! It's what I went into. I'm a counselor. People fascinate me.
What was your favorite subject?
No, but I was interested in what Devie liked in school?
Do you care whether it was remiss of you or not?
Not even remotely.
Is that remiss of me?
Yes, that is remiss of you. Devie - I loved English- loved to read and write.
Do you do private counseling or work within a school or hospital setting?
I wouldn't dream of any such thing.I haven't the faintest idea what advice to give to others.
Don't you think advising others is a trifle-how shall we say-egotistical?
