Actually Mathos old dear,we have been moving on a somewhat higher plane lately than sordid matters pertaining to guzzling in questionable establishments.
You don't mind do you?
Higher plane, you Spendius?
Are you attending cosmic and psychic classes?
I mind your thinking that every writer should refer to Flaubert before committing to paper. Just because he could afford the time and effort to lie on a sofa before penning each sentence, and spend at least a day thinking of the right word, doesn't actually make him a better story teller.
Who is your favourite STORY TELLER (not writer)?
Impossible question.
Why do you ask impossible questions?
Because you give impossible answers, of course. White Queen logic.
Do you have friends?
I'm not absolutely certain.
Do you mean someone I could rely on to suck the poison out if I got bit on the whatsit by a snake?
Any paramedic would do that. A friend might not.
Have you spent time in complete solitude?
As a matter of fact I have.
Do you think that's good or bad?
You in solitude?
Impossible !
Good. There is little time and place for silence and solitude these days.
Do you think I should walk across Britain from East to West?
I damned well bloody well don't you silly girl.
Whatever gave you such a barmy idea?
You should Clary,
But from West to East.
Would you do it barefoot?
I have done on a surprising number of occasions.
Do you keep your socks on?
I would keep socks on, I went barefoot at school and had really tough soles, but no longer. East to West would be walking from flat to hilly you see, so I could get in training slowly
Do you walk?
I enjoy treking Clary,
I really enjoy it, especially in the far east.
Do you travel much?
Not so you would notice.
Are you earthbound?
Can vouch for every truth of Clary's statements re barefoot schooling being good for the soul.
How about North South clare? Then its downhill all the way?
Too normal, too cold and I've been to J of G, too remote.
Do you think this is too ambitious for one who has never walked or enjoyed walking?
Possibly - especially if you don't enjoy walking - it might seem like too much of a grind for you to stick with it. You would really need to make sure you had a good pair of well-broken in walking shoes or boots- that would be the most important thing. Walking is the gentlest way to build your level of fitness however, and if you were on a level surface - you could pretty much walk forever if you have no issues with your feet, ankles, knees or hips.
If you decided to walk across England - would you like a partner?
