Not so high that I would get altitude sickness.

But I was thinking about sex as a pasttime. That was interesting to me. Wouldn't that be kind of insulting to the person with whom you're engaging- to say- "This is just a pasttime for me"? Even if you don't really care about the other person, at the very least- isn't it some sort of very fundamental release or relief that differentiates from doing puzzles or taking walks or whatever?

I think of it more as a method of expression or communication. It might be (one of) my favorite methods of expression or communication-but I can't say I've ever thought of it as a pasttime. Unless you mean just thinking about it and not actually doing it- then it could be a pasttime-although I'd think that'd be a fairly frustrating one.
(not to put you on the spot-and I'm guessing it was just an off the cuff remark that I'm overthinking- and I know everyone views almost everything differently- and I also realize maybe I place too much emotional importance on sex- I just thought it was an interesting question to think about).

Do you find yourself waking up earlier and earlier as the daylight hours increase?

No I don't, always wake up the same time, 6.30am unless I have an exceptionally late and busy night.

(Aidan I think you have put a different interpretation on Clary's remarks regarding her pastime (note spelling Smile ) than I have. My definition of pastime is an interest or activity that somebody pursues in his or her spare time. Some people like walking, others like swimming and I like doing crosswords, but I also find the time to pursue the subject Clary is talking about if I have any time left. Smile )

Do you feel comfortable speaking in public?

Dutchy- yeah, I thought about it after and substituted the word diversion for pastime (thanks for you spelling help Laughing ) and realized that yes, in fact, it can be a very pleasant diversion - although still that doesn't really describe what it ever is to me- but I recognized everyone is different. (I would guess that it works better as a pastime or diversion if both people involved are viewing it from that standpoint though....)

I no longer mind speaking in public. I once found it extremely difficult, but not so much anymore.

Do you ever wish you'd been born in a different time than the one you were born in - either earlier or later?

No, I don't, when I look back over my life I'd say I have had a good innings and I'm content where I am at present. Our move from Europe to Australia was probably the greatest upheaval in my life but looking back we have no regrets, this country has been extremely good to us.

Do you still have unfulfilled ambitions in life?

(I was only being cheeky pointing out that spelling error, I'm the worst offender Smile )

I wish I did, then I could fulfil them; still want to visit various places. Re sex as pastime, I used to view it as more important, but that was when I was espoused so it was all bound up with relationship. I don't need it to be. It can be a pastime now.

What is your next ambition to fulfil?

Well, let's see...I went to work, not so exciting, but always really pretty fun. Although today, two of my guys turned the corner on their reading- these are two guys who started out in March not knowing the entire alphabet or letter sounds and in the past two days- it's just all clicked in- that's exciting to me, anyway.

I saw a fawn again on my walk tonight. I saw her last night too. That was kind of exciting. All in all I can't complain.

So is it 6:30 am at your house?

Yes Aidan and getting reading to have some breakfast, hot porridge (a cool 7 degrees right now, will be 22 later in the day) and fresh Orange/Mango juice, then a walk around the old vineyard and a few more posts.

And bedtime for you shortly I suppose?

What're you, my mother? Are you trying to imply it's my bedtime? Laughing

It actually only got dark about thirty minutes ago- so I'm still wide awake. This eighteen hours of daylight really messes with my inner clock.

I feel strangely energetic though. Does that ever happen to you- you should be just beat- but you come up with energy you didn't think you would have?

Your partner is a lucky guy Smile No, I don't have that late energy but I'm pretty energetic first thing in the morning. Sorry I implied that you should go to bed, I honestly thought it was around 11.30pm your way.

Do you work Saturdays or is that your shopping day in the UK?

I don't work on Saturdays. I try to get shopping out of the way as early in the week-end as possible, but as I hate it and I'm a procrastinator, I usually end up trying to rush through on Sunday afternoons right before they lock the doors.

Does stuff shut down early on Sundays where you live. (Are you in the city, suburbs, or countryside?)

I live in the suburbs, about 12km from CBD, but have a large shopping plaza nearby with 300 odd shops, open 7 days a week until 5.30pm each day and 9pm Thursday nights. We also have a row of service stations nearby which are open 24 hours a day which also stock just about all you need in case of an emergency, however they are more expensive than the normal shops.

Do you still have home deliveries, like bread, milk etc in the UK?

Milk, yeah- it comes in these great little old fashioned pint glass bottles. I don't know about bread from a bakery- but actually you can get the big grocery stores like Tesco to deliver all your groceries for a price. They just pull up in a big truck- my neighbor used to get it.

Do you like to cook, shop, clean, etc- or do you prefer someone else in your family to take care of that stuff?
