Good Lord, he is about to ditch the 'Cutty Sark', or is it the "Love Boat".

No, feeling very accepting in general. Looking forward to seeing Zodiac (I love scary movies- and I remember reading about this guy when I was young and it terrified/fascinated me at the same time). Also, I'm going with my son, with whom I almost never have the chance to spend very much time anymore, and we're having lunch together...

Is there any news story from the past that really captured your imagination?

I remember being very haunted by the story of Donald Crowhurst, about whom a film has recently been made, a lone yachtsman who went mad because he was cheating in a major race, and killed himself.

How do you feel about the Madeleine stories, since the media are now thinking they overhyped them?

Yes, the role New Yorks's mayor Rudy Giuliani played, after the 2001 Sept. 11 attack on his city. I was greatly impressed by this man's compassion in dealing with the victims and their relatives after this tragedy. He gave a speech in my home town some month ago and was given a long standing ovation by those present, in my view a remarkable man.

Is there anybody in particular that you admire?

Camilla B, a wonderful woman who set up the Kid's Company charity (please everyone, read about it). She works with young people at the very margins of society who social services have given up on.

Who do you admire?

No one in particular...I admire a lot of people in light of the work they do... but they all seem to have a selfish reason for it Crying or Very sad ...well 'most' do...

Do you think one should put aside personal ambitions or views when providing services like community or social services?

Views, no - people without convictions achieve nothing and, from a lot of experience, I am not at all cynical about people who work for charities, though I am about politicians.

Can somebody give us another inspirational figure to reflect on?

Yes, Tony Blair is abdicating, so why not put your hat in the ring, you'll do a much better job than him, I'm sure.

Do you think we'll ever see a Statesman like Winston Churchill again?

Churchill commenced smoking Havana cigars during a visit to Cuba in 1895, his favorite brands were Romeo y Julieta and the now-defunct La Aroma de Cuba.

As a non-smoker, I'm wondering if tobacco is some kind of a drug and is addictive. Does anybody have a view on this subject?

Not everything, but it is helpful to be well informed; as it happens I know that tobacco is many times more addictive than heroin, and that women find it harder to give up smoking than men.

Frequently, but mostly for food and very cheap clothes. I've just been planning a trip for my son and g/f to Chitral in Pakistan, it looks stunning and I wish I could go too.

Do you like high mountains?
