I guess we do about once a week too- usually on the week-end. I like to cook and really don't ever feel like wasting the time to go and sit in a restaurant in the evening during the week- I'd rather spend the time at home.
Does Australia have an identifiable "national" cuisine? (I'd guess there'd be a big asian influence- but I don't really know).
I'm unaware we have. When I first came to Australia there were NO restaurants. If you wanted a meal in those days, you could get steak and eggs at a service station, or a roast (mainly mutton) in a Hotel. With the influx of migrants from all over the world the eating habits of Australia have completely changed. Every city now has the most sophisticated Restaurants imaginable with extensive wine lists (Australia is great wine producing country) representing every nation in the world. Hotels are packed every day for lunches and dinners, in short Australians have become food connoisseurs in recent years. Very identifiable with this country is the BBQ ofcourse, there are plenty of eating places where you can grill your own meat!
Have your eating habits changed from the US to British?
In some ways. I love the desserts here- especially lemon drizzle cake. That's the first cake I've ever had that I actually ask people to eat it so I won't have to. If it's there, I can't resist it.
Is there any food (not candy or chocolate) that you absolutely can't resist?
Prime beef steak is one of my favourites. We go to an Argentinian Restaurant here where you can order them in any size you like, from 100 grams to 1 Kilogram!! The way they are grilled are out of this world. Our South Australian sea food is world class and also hold special interest for me, luckily my son runs a large fishing concern so I don't lack in that regard either.
Do people in America eat out a lot?
Yes there is a shortage of tables, chairs, cutlery, (especially knives- they only use forks) table linen and cruet. Consequently they sit on logs around the ant hills and chomp on burgers, pizzas, ke-babs and taco's.
Didn't you know that?
er...erm...

Whatever you say....
Did you read a lot of fiction when you were a teenager?
Not at all, I just loved Dan Dare, Desperate Dan, and that little Popeye character who had tins of spinach all over the place.
Have you ever wanted to see Yogi Bear and Booboo?
No.
Have you wanted any of the Magic Roundabout characters? I bought the dog in France once, it was called Pollux, but no idea what it's called in Eng
No, only because I have no idea what they are.
Why does my wife buy so much crap at Target?
She enjoys buying crap.
Would you sleep in an igloo and share the bed of your hosts wife as a mark of respect?
Yes I would- that would not be a problem at all for me as long as she didn't snore and respected my boundaries.
Do cold and frozen landscapes appeal to you?
They did once, and I do intend spending December and January in Russia in a couple of years time.
Would you like a job as maid in my igloo?
Not one bit.
Does a hot desert climate appeal to you where temperatures often reach 115 degrees?
Not one bit- in fact it scares the crap out of me- I'm fair skinned and have been very, very badly sunburned on more than a few occasions in my life. I have to really be careful in the sun.
Do you have the type of skin that can take desert sun?
No I'm a blonde from Northern Europe but with gradual exposure to the sun I can manage and always wear a wide brimmed hat when in these parts of the country.
Do you like swimming in the open ocean or do you prefer an indoor pool?
Outdoor pool ocean is fine though.
Do you prefer living in Oz to Holland?
I don't know as I have never tried either.
Do they cheat at cricket in Holland?
I have no idea, Spendi.
Do you think they would, I don't even know if they have a cricket team, do they?
Yes they have but not nearly as good as the all conquering, unbeatable Aussie Heroes.
Have you ever seen a better cricket team then the current World Champions Australia?
Yes. I have. It was a team that set a fine example of gentlemanly behaviour and sporting fairness to the next generation.
Is that less important than winning?
