I imagine so. Only because we are awake for more of our lifetime than most, I guess!
Didn't you know that alcohol is the worst thing for an insomniac? It doesn't keep me from taking a nip, but it's not the best kind of sleep. You tend to wake up in the middle of the night unable to go back to sleep or you wake up in the morning not feeling rested. Fascinating, isn't it? <yawn>!
It is really.I have my own theory about it.
Have you tried lettuce?(On reflection the pun is intended).
You'll have to pardon me. I have a head ache, so I'm "not firing on all cylinders"!
Is the lettuce for the insomnia, and what pun?
And I'd love to hear your theory. What is it?
The pun is on lettuce as a veg.that contains a sweet dream chemical and lettuce as a slang word for folding currency notes.
Isn't that an American usage?
It's not one I know! That would be a good one had I known it!
You don't seem very talkative. Still bored? It's about pub time, isn't it?
Well it's always five o'clock somewhere in the world.
Care for a cuppa?
I'll take a mocha-cino.
What're you drinkin'?
Well nothing right now, but I am just starting to think about a nice glass of cabernet.
Care to join me, I'm a fun drunk?
Me too. We'll have lots of fun!
Cabernet sounds good. What year?
September 30, 12 noon. We always spring for the best.
Would you like me to order a care-a-fey for us? Anyone else interested?
Would be if there is chance of an orgy.
It would be an exciting 24 hour rendevous no doubt, are you coming Dev's?
Yes, if she's hosting.
Is it just news overload or are there more natural disasters now than there used to be?
I don't think so.Gibbon talks about earthquakes as if they were a regular feature of life.Whole cities ruined and abandoned. They didn't bother counting the dead or providing rescue services in those days. After the looting came the vultures.
Isn't Christianity wonderful?
It is wonderful when you actually behave like a Christian. Which would also be like behaving as a Jew, Buddist, Hindu, Muslim or any other religion if you let love in your heart and avoided all the hate.
Why do you suppose all those good ideas go flying out the window the minute fine religious people discover something they don't understand?
But who can answer that????? I think it's time for happy hour, and I'm buying drafts for the first 20 in the room.
I could answer that but I will refrain as I also need to depart to the ale-house.
What's your usual tipple?
Tipple? Another British word, I presume - for drink? If so, I love a Bailey's & creme!
What do you mean you could answer? I'd be curious to hear it.
I have discovered on the ID v SD thread that any answer I provided would be completely incoherent in reception. From what I've seen your professors must have worked the family connections.
Don't you find with Bailey's that before you can quench your thirst you are flat on your back?
Bailey's & creme, Spendius would never take you to his flea ridden ale house Dev's, best tell him you drink mild.
Have you ever partaken cognac and port my dear?
Is that what a 'tipple' is, a thirst-quenchng drink? Well, then I'd have to say water. I don't so much drink Bailey's just to drink or quench my thirst. It's my favorite nightcap.I just like it for the way it tastes & feels.
And yes, Math-i(?) I drink port and cognac as well. I was well spoiled by the time I was 18. It started with a great time with a friend, her father and my roommate in college that included Dom Perignon and DuBonnet ... ah, memories. I'd probably love Spendi-'s pub. I'm at home just about anywhere!
Where do you partake?
Oh, and from another thread, have you Englishmen ever heard of candy corn or is it an American thing?
I have a regular gill in my local Dev's, mainly talent spotting, there are always a numer of tourists in the area. Ah I adore the fillies, especially when they turn themselves out so well to be admired.
Candy corn? Well yes, we have heard of it my dear. It grows so cheaply in America, a little like rice in The Orient, and they make rice cakes to entice the children especially.
Tell me, do American's still retain that obnoxious habit of chewing gum, especially whilst talking?
It is indeed good to know you enjoy a cognac and port, and the DuBonnet is a splendid appetiser. Tis indeed a well tested drink of mature proportions, even though every bottle tastes exactly the same.
As for the DP, good choice. You have indeed verged on the realms of good education in tasting the nectars. The Russian people are indeed a strange clan, they only drink vodka! Think of the joys of life THEY have been denied.
As for a night-cap, I always partake of cognac and port, if on the odd chance I feel a sniffle arising, I would substitute the same for a cognac all in, now that will really rock the boat if correctly prepared.
