Why does there always have to be a point with you?
Couldn't someone just do something because it's fun and they enjoy it?
*Good-morning, by the way:)
Good afternoon aidan.Feeling stroppy are you?
Yeah-I like to know the point of things.Sure I do.And if a thing is both pointless and polluting I feel a duty to not allow young thread readers to only hear one side of it because they might become enthused and clog up the lakes and roads even more than they do now.It is only conspicuous consumption after all but don't expect me to go into that because it is a vast subject on many levels.
I would have thought that an English teacher would tend (tend I said) to discourage activities which get in the way of the perfection of communication skills which are,as you must know, the only sound basis for friendship.
Are you aware that a qualification to teach English is not the main requirement of a true, dedicated teacher of the language and that the vocation takes precedence?
Feel like pontificating today, dear Spendius?
What's the point of it?
Francis - I truly do not know.
Spendi - First of all, although I majored in English - I am not an English teacher. Get your facts straight.
I think we communicate beautifully - don't you?
Don't you always know exactly what I'm trying to say?
Did you know that everything I say is not always directed directly at you?
Get the picture?
And as someone who majored in American English - though I can guess what "stroppy" might mean - it's not a part of my day to day vocabulary.
Can you elucidate? (give me a detailed definition?)
*you know I love you dearly - I'm just joshin' with you.
Entertaining myself without adding to the addiction on oil.Perhaps you don't accept that.
Also-as explained-to improve possibilities of friendship.
Also-aidan might get a position in one of our schools as an English teacher.
Are 3 points enough?
Enough for what? I've been listening to a great song my daughter introduced me to today. You should listen to it - it's great (words and music - just perfect). Foo Fighters - Times Like These (One way motorway).
Ever heard it?
Just googled lyrics up.No comment.
Did you not see Francis's question.
I answered him - I said I don't know.
What do you mean no comment?
" It's times like these you learn to live again, It's times like these you give and give again...."
What it says to me is when you get upset or frustrated - don't give into it - turn back around and keep working at it. A great lesson - everyday can be a new beginning.
Download it so you can hear the music. Very simple guitar and he does a good job singing it. Tell me what you think, okay?
OK then.You asked.It's drivel.Mindless drivel.Means nothing.
Maybe it means something to those who get upset and frustrated.I'm not one.I have been learning to live for as long as I can remember. It comes naturally.
Had I answered differently I would have been telling you lies.Patronising you in other words.
Would you prefer that?
Good morning, don't need patronizing
Trying to be tolerant isn't working??
Get intolerant then.
Do you think I can't cope with intolerance?
Hey, you know, what can I say? To each his own I guess Mr. Expert at Living. Maybe you should give the rest of us mere mortals lessons or something. You could make a mint. But don't worry, I won't take it personally or anything....

See ya later...
Seems to be working so far
What are you up to, today? (besides the obvious)
Who me? Not much - it's so dang hot - too hot to move really - although I did nordic track and I'm about to walk down to town to pick up my daughter from school. This heat reminds me of what I moved away from in North Carolina. Only there it was everyday between June and September.
Ollady - you mentioned the Blue Ridge Mountains once. Did you live somewhere around them. Just interested, because I lived in the foothills in NC so I'm familiar with that area of the country and love it.
Yes, very near the town of Blue Ridge-
I don't know anyone living here who does not like the hills of Georgia, NC, do you?
I think they're beautiful. Haven' t been in a while.
Do you like to travel, 'ollady'?
Depends on where I am going
I am very much of a homebody in recent years.
Are you afraid to fly?
Not at all. In fact I just heard today (on "Today") about a wonderful web site about people not being afraid. The inference is to terrorists, but it's very inspiring.
Do you have a large family?
No, I just flew two weeks ago transatlantic. If my time is
up, then it is up. Flying has become a hassle though, with
Homeland Security and delays and what not. I wish there
would be a simpler system of transporting one from A to B.
It seems, spendius is extra grumpy today, ha?
