I learned early in my air force years to never be the first or the last. Made it point to be in the middle area, and it worked out just fine.

Having said that, I am not sure why you wouldn't agree to raising the minimum wage, if not to $15, at least raising it more than it is now. I agree with you and Bernie, corporations have selfishly kept wages low, one of the reasons why the middle class is disappearing. Corporations have been making record profits, there is no reason why they haven't increased wages other than greed.

The Declaration of Independence, for all that it is a stirring, inspiring document, is not the basis of even a portion of the constitution, let alone the entire constitution. It's really easy to sound clever if you just make sh*t up.

You are stabbing capitalism square in the heart. Despite the outcry that this will cause and all the links and graphs that will be shown as a result, let me share my perspective on minimum wage increases... When minimum wage goes up, prices go up. That wage has to come from somewhere and that means the customer will have to pay more for goods and services. Whats the point of making more money if the price of goes up with it? Your dollar isn't going as far. in 1980 something the price of a Big Mac value meal was $2.99. It was $2.99 for a loooong time. Now it is $7.60+.

Why do corporations exist? To better mankind and provide jobs to people? No, they exist to make money. They trade goods and services for money which then pays the employee, betters the corporation and lines to pockets of the owners. Do you believe that corporations just spring up like corn? No, they are the results of years and years of hard work. That hard work should eventually pay off, right?

Your example of a Big Mac is myopic: inflation is a part of life. Even our government tries to keep inflation at less than 2%/year by playing with monetary policy and such.

I'm not suggesting an increase in minimum wages won't impact prices, but it's rarely the way suggested. The experience in Canada re jobs and better minimum wages has been pretty good. More disposable income for some people has led to more jobs for some others.
