@roger,
Yeah, it does. I wasn't joking when I said I'd eaten it. In my younger and stoopider days, I killed one that was 5'2" long, then fried it up. Then a few years later in Mexico, I had iguana. Very similar textures and tastes. Not too surprising, since they're both reptiles, I reckon.

@FBM,
I've had crocosaurusdile burgers in Darwin...Yumm. On one survival exercise I came back having put on weight, thanks to the Aboriginees who showed us where to find the bush tucker. Witchitee grubs develop a different taste depending on the wood they lived in, but when roasted they are all delicious. I had peanut butter and vegemite ones. We also crushed the adomen of these "green" ants (as opposed to green ants) and when mixed with water they tasted like lime cordial!

@Ionus,
Sounds downright yummy. Confused

That reminds me. I once had kangaroo in Vietnam. That's what the restaurant claimed, anyway. Damn tasty, 'roo.

@FBM,
Dont know how to tell you this, but ....Kangaroo has a very strong gamey taste. Low in fat but usually tough unless tenderised and thin. Perhaps you had the more traditional dog ?

@Ionus,
It was a bit tough, but I like meat to be chewy. I've never been totally convinced it was 'roo, anyway. What the hell would a restaurant in Saigon be doing with kangaroo meat?

As for the dog, well, I've been in S. Korea for a long time...*cough*

@Ionus,
Sometimes it's just better not to ask, eh? They say it's not wise to ask questions if you're not sure you really want to know the answer...

Kangaroo meat is hard to cook, but great when done properly.

And crocodile. Not sure about cooking difficulty, but very tasty.

The hardest part is getting the bloody thing to sit in the pan.

I love kangaroo. It needs to be cooked very lightly, just a quick sear on all sides. I make a great kangaroo carpaccio.

I'm happy to prepare it for anyone who cares to drop by. But best to give some notice - there's not too many kangaroos hopping down my street these days.

@Setanta,
Good. I'm so tired of people complaining about fast food when all they have to do is not eat the stuff.

@Setanta,
Just hold a piece of bread at any picnic hotspot and the bugger will walk right up to you demanding it.

Let me guess . . . they expect it now . . .

It got that way with bears at Yellowstone Park, but bears are just a tad riskier, if they get pissed off . . .
