If Reagan could do eight years, Hillary could do four or eight. I think she could judge that herself. Plus, if she did have to resign, VP whoever is likely to be a good one to take the reins and win another time from the sympathy vote he/she inherits.

The problem is that Reagan couldn't do eight years. Not if "doing" means staying on top of things rather than just bearing the title of president.

@Thomas,
That's why I put in the four, also.

I think what makes Hillary look tired to some, is actually just the lines one gets from aging. Last week, I was out front to mow the yard. A kid of about twenty was walking by. He said, "You look worn out. Let me mow the grass for you, for nothing." I said, "I just started less than two minutes ago. How can I be tired?" The perception and the reality don't have to match.

@edgarblythe,
Ya, but saying that 69 years plus is fine because Ronnie was that old and Hillary is a woman so should expect to have a longer shelf life does not do it for me. Ron Reagan was shot a couple of years before he got to leave. It is a very demanding job. I dont really want someone in the chair who is pushing 70, regardless of gender.

She is still a much, much, much better choice than anyone the Republicans are offering as an alternative.

Any "progressive" not taking that into consideration should think about it again and again...until it becomes a very important consideration.

I think Hillery is a hell of a lot smarter then Ronny from the start.

The Professor is brilliant, and look at where that has gotten us. Acidemic smarts are only a small part of the skill set required for POTUS job (the fantasy show West Wing not withstanding) . Given Hillaries dismal record at politics her people smarts might be as bad as his are, which would be a huge problem.

@hawkeye10,
The elite never understand that that current age of the experts is a bit of a novelty in history, it is not preordained to continue, and that the results have only been so-s0 at best and are rapidly getting worse. As much as the elite sneer at people like those in the Tea Party a betting man who knows humans and knows history would likely pick them to triumph over the elite.

@ossobuco,
Also, she's probably trying to stay thin. Plumpness can be a benefit re achieving a wrinkle free look - not entirely, but somewhat. I should know, hee hee. I lost a batch of weight when I left California, mainly since I don't eat out much and cook for myself, and it's stayed a steady loss, at just under the "overweight" bmi. I get a kick out of fitting into some of my old favorite or new favorite clothes (medium!!!!!), but have a scrawny bird look (with still some fat areas). I perceive that looks matter more for female politicians, but I'm not so sure they make a difference re who votes for whom.

@ossobuco,
Hillary is a old bird, what she has done is try as best she can to get herself into shape to make it through the ordeal of a campaign. Carrying more weight than she needs to would be a huge problem down the line.

There's something more significant, however, Barnes said: Clinton lacks a "rationale" for seeking the presidency.

"In place of a rationale, there’s an assumption that her prominence, her résumé, and the likelihood of her becoming the first woman president would make her a uniquely appealing candidate," Barnes said. "They haven’t. …

"She has not only failed to attract big crowds. She’s having trouble raising big money from those described by Politico as 'rich liberals,' " Barnes said.

Urgent: Rate Obama on His Job Performance. Vote Here Now!

I think this is true, and it is another rookie mistake, again going to show what a lousy politician Hillary is. Being married to Bill, especially post heart attack, does not make her skillful.

I think I was saying way back in 07 the Hillarys argument is "I have a pussy and so you should make me president", and that this is not good enough.

@hawkeye10,
I think that Hillary thinks that she does not need a rationale, that she thinks that it is preordained that the liberal agenda will progress, having a woman in the POTUS chair is part of the agenda and that now is the time, and that nothing else matters. But it does. The vast majority of people dont give a tinkers damn what color skin the president has or what sexual organs they have, they want a president who will lead the NATION as opposed to their party forwards. Hillary needs to come up with the goods like everyone else, she is not going to be our affirmative action president, awarded the job by quota.

That strikes me as wishful thinking, Hawk. Race and gender do matter in any election, and most of politics anywhere is deeply partisan. Obama has consistently tried to reach out to the Repukes and look where that led him... For all my doubts about her foreign policy, I do hope Hillary will tear a hole in the rear end of Republicans.

Then why would they ever have elected people like Ronald Reagan or either of the Bush guys?

Hillary Clinton has worked damn hard to get to where she is today. She does not take it for granted the crown will be hers after all, look at what happened in '08 re African American Barack Obama, a little unknown US senator from Chicago...this was a long shot for an African American to even think he could capture the White House....but he did, TWICE! "Those who don't learn from history are bound to repeat it? Clintons understands, possibly far better than you, that she has to work doubly hard in the African-American community to get the black vote simply because she is not another Barack Obama. She realizes if Jeb Bush or a Marco Rubio gets the nomination, the Latino vote is not exactly hers either because any ethnic group would welcome the chance to put forward their own for the very first time, despite their ethnic hopeful's obvious faults. (Marco Rubio is currently being investigated by the Justice Dept for financial fraud.)

To intelligent Americans, the only thing they want is a decent president who will be fair towards ordinary folks; however, you seem to be deliberately ignoring the huge white elephant in the room....America is riddled with racism, especially so in the south where they are still fighting the Civil war. We have a congress who on Day One of Obama's Inauguration made a pledge to oppose this black president no matter what it was or how badly Americans were hurt in the process. Still our economy improved, and the ACA was passed so millions of uninsured, including more whites, could have health insurance with a minimum amount of funds. Obama's had to work very hard trying to clean up the MESS Dick Cheney, GWB, Condoleezza Rice made. The origin of ISI can be found in the dismissing of Saddam Hussein army, cutting them loose without pay forcing these generals, captains, etc to form their own to fight the American/British coalition by any means necessary.

As for the unasked for words regarding male sexual organs' sizes, my, one has to pause, to reflect on your words, hawkeye. Do you feel inadequate because you believe Mother Nature denied you your "natural" due? Do you feel inferior to African American men? The African American is no threat to you in a world of white supremacy. So why the continued anger? Oh, yeah, right, Obama is black and is considered the most powerful man in the world! Geez! That's enough to make a red neck foam at the mouth. Shh! Calm down...grab a paper napkin and wipe the froth off your chin. The only answer one can think of for you, Hawkeye, is that you seem to feel so small and insignificant, that you keep harping on "affirmative action....." Cheer up! Life, for what's its worth is simply not fair to all people, neither is Mother Nature. Look at the struggling African American whose plight even during a time of plenty seems to get worse.

Let me clarify my above statement. I realize you meant America does not care what the "sexual organ" of the US candidate for president is, but you are wrong. Why is it we have never had a female president of the US before? Why is it women continues to make far less than males in our society. Surely, one's sexual organs does come into play. Like the old song: "This is a man's world" and the Republican Party will never let women forget this.

My dig at you regarding the African American male organ was deliberate because you are so obviously racist as well as being a misogynist. Misogyny reveals much contempt for women and can be manifested in numerous ways ("I'll grab a tit"), including sexual discrimination, belittling of women, violence against women, and sexual objectification of women.

Clearly, you, hawkeye, have got a lot to learn regarding showing respect for women.

Another time to be continued.....
