when he is purported to have said:

If it ain't unexplained, don't explain it.

I'm unsure whether Lincoln ever said or wrote that.
I can find no primary source for it.

Ah, found it.

This was said to Stephen A. Douglas about his rationalizations of his
position on slavery.
