@TheCobbler,

The Trump administration waivers are a continuation of previous government policy. The Obama administration had granted the banks temporary waivers under a so-called deferred prosecution agreement with them after their 2015 convictions for manipulating a key interest rate used for loans worldwide.

A continuation of a previous Obama policy... Don't let any facts get in the way of your BS.

If he owns it, that is his right. It seems pretty foolish (and in fact is). But there is no law against folly.

Chris Shields, an 18-year member of the military and owner of 10 guns, explains why no one needs this weapon

Need has nothing to do with anything. The fact that no one can provide any reason for banning pistol grips on rifles means that people can have them if they choose.

and is calling on fellow gun owners to give theirs up too.

Free speech gives him the right to say that.

I call on him to give up all of his cars/trucks/other vehicles.

How many of these whiny brats are in rural conservative districts that either party needs in order to control the House of Representatives?

None?

@Baldimo,
I think you've highlighted a common misconception about what conservatism is - it is not inherently right wing, it's about the preservation of institutions and favouring incremental change when society reaches overwhelming majority consensus on that change.

Current GOP and Whitehouse are far from conservative in their agenda, but carefully craft their message to garner support from unwitting reactionaries.

No she doesn't. I would have no problem out-thinking her.

I'll concede that I'm not much for speaking in public however.

This, from you, "No she doesn't. I would have no problem out-thinking her" says it all.

Apply this to Social Security and social welfare programs, Liberals have become "conservative" and Conservatives have become "progressive".

Bismarck's liberal opposition coined it "state socialism" a term later accepted by Bismarck.
That was in 1881, when Otto von Bismarck's social welfare policies were introduced.
Bismarck was the leader of what historians call "revolutionary conservatism", a hero to German nationalists and Prussian Evangelical power ... ...

@Baldimo,
https://www.ssa.gov/policy/docs/ssb/v70n3/v70n3p79.html
Quote:
Is the historical development of the Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI) program unique or similar to the development of social security programs in other industrialized countries? The U.S. Social Security program was adopted some 40 to 50 years after those of most Western European nations. The United States thus had the opportunity to choose from a number of models and clearly chose to follow the classic social insurance path of such countries as Austria, France, and Germany, which in 1935 already had considerable experience administering earnings-related, employer/worker-financed old-age pension programs. Although based on the traditional social insurance model, OASDI evolved in certain unique ways, including the rejection over the course of succeeding decades of any reliance on general revenue financing, the importance attached to long-range (75-year) actuarial projections, and the relative generosity of benefits for survivors and dependents.

Wind and solar power could meet four-fifths of US electricity demand, study finds
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2018/02/180227111639.htm

Oh, but the drill drill drill and gas gas gas people say this is not possible...

Who do we listen to, scientists or greedy republicans?

Wind and solar are only a small portion of the renewable energy sector, there are also thermal, tidal and bio energy sources to name just a few.

The next time a republican says these energy sources are not viable you will know who they have been listening to. They have been listening to liars who have a stake in keeping our energy grid dependent upon dirty polluting energy sources that destroy our underground land structure, while polluting vital sources of water and our clean air...

Say no to their dirty pipelines! Support green energy development only!!!

And the other fifth?

Or if the study turns out to be wrong?

Look, I'm all for pushing renewables as much as possible. And if they can provide all of our energy needs, great. But we're not going to abandon other power sources until renewables reach the point where they are actually providing 100% of our energy needs.

@oralloy,
The other 5th we can buy from countries who have more sun, in equatorial regions, where, only a small portion of equatorial land could theoretically supply the entire continent with free solar energy and jobs maintaining those facilities.

Better than buying it from the middle East and Russia, huh?
