@TheCobbler,
It's not very honest of you to falsely accuse me of your own lack of thoughtfulness.

An impeachment of Trump would also call into question every policy and person Trump "planted" into our government, including judges.

No it won't.

The longer we spend in this impeachment process the better off our government will be in the end.

By all means, spend the entire next two years holding an impeachment trial.

Bill Clinton was impeached for actual crimes.

The actual crime was lying to a bunch of nosy assholes in Congress under oath about a BJ in the Oval Office. Holy **** the earth almost stopped spinning on it's axis. The INCELS were outraged, those boys resent intimate contact because it doesn't ever happen to them. Go figure.

@glitterbag,
Bill Clinton's actual crimes included:

a) perjury before a civil trial,

b) perjury before a grand jury,

c) obstruction of justice, and

d) witness tampering.

I know you think that undermining the US government is no big deal.

I just can’t with this fool. The attack on the Capitol was a “peaceful protest”. How can you talk to someone that freaking lost?

Progressives sure do hate people who stand up to their tyrannical ambitions.

You're a liar. You cannot provide any examples of an untrue statement in my posts.

@oralloy,
I thought we covered this already. But since you either have a short term memory or maybe an undiagnosed learning disability, here you go:

I'm not a liar. However, you've posted you are.

So there's that.

Wrong. You lied. You cannot provide any examples of an untrue statement in my posts.

You are also lying about my mind, which is vastly superior to yours.

But Biden really didn't want an impeachment because he felt it would hinder us from new policies going forward and getting his cabinet confirmed.

It's not like Mr. Biden is going to achieve much anyway. He doesn't have the votes to get anything controversial passed, or to get any controversial nominees confirmed.

But it will still be funny to watch the Democrats squander the Biden Administration whining about Mr. Trump.

On the other hand, there is an accountability issue and it would set a precedent for future would be copycat Trump's administrations in the future.

There is no accountability issue. Mr. Trump did nothing wrong and the Democrats are again abusing their power.

The senate trial also don't make much sense in the traditional way of removing a president who is already gone. But it would be good for history to get all that information.

There is no information to get.

But is it worth it? We could be bogged down in a time when there is so much to do.

As I noted above, it's not like the Biden Administration has enough votes to do all that much anyway.

He is going to be a weak and ineffective one-term president no matter what he does.

Why have an impeachment trial if Trump is already gone?

Impeachment could be used to remove Trump from office and to disqualify him from holding political office in the future.

Two historical precedents, both involving federal judges, make clear that the Senate could also vote to disqualify the president
from holding office in the future, with only a simple majority needed.

The odds of getting enough Republican support for a conviction are pretty slim.

What do you think the odds are that enough Republicans will support the unjust lynching of a fellow Republican to actually get a conviction?
