May I make an alternate suggestion?

I am wearing my robe with the torn shoulder seam, a delightfully saggy pair of workout sweats that have seen neither and a drab gray teeshirt with a pocket to hold the quarters when I go down to the laundry room.

So far no one in the laundry room has approached me.

Joe(I'm not wearing my glasses, maybe that's why you look so good)Nation

Okay...good tan or fair complexion? (Redheads are often fair, and some colors do not flatter.)

Fair complexion, but no freckles, I'm not that kind of redhead. I never tan, gotta protect the merchandise. My skin has been called "peaches and cream" but I'm not sure exactly what that means or if it's accurate.

The problem comes in trying to decide what goes with the gunmetal-colored swimsuit. Then you really do have to factor in a person's coloring.

That's fascinating. And here I was just trying to decide what color I liked best. So what does my coloring say to you in terms of that?

I got my Lands End catalog in yesterday's mail, and I love those shoes, too! I love the idea of green, Cinn, but not that particular chartreuse with pale skin. (I'm a whitey, too.) Chartreuse looks great with a tan, but if it has a lot of yellow (like those shoes) it can make our pale skin look sick. I'd go with the mango instead if you want a pastel.

My coloring is the same as my avatar and I have blue-green eyes. I'm going to order the fresh turquoise ones.

Pastels ARE tricky with pale skin.

The closures on those shoes are great, just like the ones on my (much costlier) Keen sandals.

I like most pastels on me, even chartreuse <edit: chartreuse isn't much of a pastel...>. Bright red makes me look weird, like my skin is illuminated by a crazed fluorescent light. My husband looks great in every color, even the sickliest pea soup green, mustardy yellow, stale pumpkin. (He has a few strange t-shirts, can you tell?)

By a strange coincidence, I have t-shirts in those same colors.
Of course, they all started out white.

Only a few pastels look good on me. Turquoise is one of them, apricot is another. Light yellow, baby blue and lilac all make me look sick.

I don't have enough color, so I look for shades that will give me some. Bright red is one of my best colors, particularly if it has a bit of orange to it. Lime green has enough brightness that it will work, but pale chartreuse is too washed out. I am looking for something kelly green this spring. LOVE that color.

My husband has the opposite coloring from me. With dark hair, eyes and complexion, he looks best in pastels and clear colors. Muted shades look muddy on him.

My husband has even lighter skin than mine, and none of the slight pink undertones. It must be the contrast of his very very dark brown hair that does something to those weird shirt colors to make them look flattering. Who knows?

Every time I type something like this, there's a little devil on my shoulder saying, "trivial, trivial."

Someone restrain me before I start describing my children's coloring... ...next thing you know, it will be my dogs, and are they ever beautiful...

Trivial, yes, but interesting nonetheless, Cinn. Wink

I am wearing bright red today, fyi. Needed something to wake me up. Just looked in mirror...Good God, I need to put on some makeup with this color. I look scared to death...like something drained all the color out of me. Lipstick! Where is it....
