again totally your imagination about what progressives were thinking and why those actions were taken.

The only reason why progressives opposed the wall was to spite Trump.

Bogus deal on the wall.

The notion that getting immigration reform legislation is a bogus deal is exactly why the Dreamers are now in big trouble.

That's what happens to groups who put their trust in progressives.

MontereyJack wrote:
Trump tried to abolish the very popular DACA and then tried to use it as a bargaining chip to get his wall. In other words Pelosi had to surrender just to get back to the status quo ante.

Getting immigration reform legislation in exchange for a harmless wall would hardly have been surrender.

MontereyJack wrote:
Trump's wall is not only stupid and ineffective but deeply unpopular, and he tried to bring the entire country to a halt to get it.

Democrats brought the entire country to a halt just to oppose the wall for no reason.

Democrats sacrificed immigration reform legislation just to oppose the wall for no reason.

Facts are very inconvenient to progressives. But no, facts are not imaginary.

Your psychic mind reading abilities are not as good as you imagine they are.

The wall is a fantastically bad idea for many reasons. You might ask yourself why Conservatives are all of a sudden so much in favor of eminent domain.

@maxdancona,
So what was so objectionable about letting Mr. Trump build a wall then?

Wasting your time Monty. No matter how many facts you present the consertives on this site will continue to alter history to fit their opinions.

@RABEL222,
The only people here who try to alter history are the progressives.

Progressives take after their idol Stalin. Thankfully they don't have the power to kill people like Stalin did.

1. It is a waste of money and not effective.
2. It is very expensive (and it turns out Mexico isn't paying for it).
3. It requires the government to take the private property of American citizens by force of law.

(I am omitting points about compassion, racism, trade and international law because I don't think you care about these issues).

It is amazing to me how quickly the conservatives were willing to give up their own core principles to Donald Trump. They wanted what this flashy reality TV president so badly that they didn't think about what they use to stand for.

Fiscal discipline... no longer so important. Property rights of Americans... not such a a big deal any more. Balanced budget?... what me worry.

Trump bought the conservative movement because it was for sale, and conservatives have fallen right in line with their new leader.

@oralloy,
You're living in a world of funhouse mirrors reflecting back your imaginary reality. Thw wall funding was rejected by congress because it would be useless, ineffective,and very expensive. Trump blocked immigration reform and then tried to use it as a quid pro quo to get his dumb wall. He has weakened America and again played into the hands of the Russians by trying to take take funds allkocated to DOD to pay for it. Most venal, corrupt dishonorable prez ever. Vote blue in Nov. for competence in government.

Wrong. It is a fact that progressives are the only ones here who are trying to alter history.

Lots of government programs do those things. The Democrats don't object to them with anything near the fervor that they object to the wall.

I certainly don't care about the three that you did list.

I doubt that there are any credible arguments that can be made against the wall based on compassion, racism, trade or international law.

@oralloy,
That's silly. The Democrats have nothing to do with it.

The conservatives have sold out their own conservative principles. You can't really hold Democrats to conservative principles.

Trump (being the stable genius he is) has tricked you into buying what he is selling in spite of the fact it goes against what conservatives have always stood for.

No trickery. Mr. Trump is doing a great job of protecting the Second Amendment.

What other principles are there?

No, I'm pointing out facts that progressives want to whitewash and sweep under the rug.

That's called political compromise. He gets something that he wants. And in exchange the Democrats get something that they want.

It's how things get done in Washington. The sooner progressives understand that, the sooner the government will start achieving stuff again.

@oralloy,
You are being silly Oralloy.

Is the Second Amendment really going to stop the government (under Trump's orders) from grabbing the private property of American landowners to build his wall?

(... this government land grab to build Trump's wall is already underway).

Not at all. I am very happy with Mr. Trump's performance on the Second Amendment.

No. Who said it would?

The courts will ensure that landowners are compensated fairly for their losses.

Thanks for the update. Too bad the Democrats didn't get immigration reform legislation in exchange for it.

I get it. Trump paid for you conservatives; gave you want you wanted. You belong to him now.

That seems like a low price for selling out, but that is between you and Trump.
