So odd that Kay Hagan leads with 40% precincts reporting IN nc but no call, buT McConnell was called with 1% of the vote in. Odd but no surprise

Just an observation.

I have never seen a voting booth like this in the UK, where other people can see you in there while you actually vote.

I was always told that casting one's vote was not only a great privilege, but a very private matter.
To my mind, this type of booth seems to diminish the privacy part somewhat.
This type of behaviour can easily tip over to an atmosphere of intimidation, which should never be experienced anywhere near a voting booth.
I immediately got the joke, but.....

The first time I saw anything like that was two years ago, if I recall correctly, and continues here today. The explanation had something to with the closed booths we used to use were subject to inaccurate readings since is was a computer touch screen. Now, we (in New Mexico) take our hand marked paper ballots and feed them into, guess what? a computer.

If that explanation is puzzling to you, you are not alone.

I think that's what the computer/touch screen was supposed to cure. Sadly, some computers are more honest than others. Mine thinks up some horrible things to post, and guess what. It has all my passwords.

I am comforted by the election results with the small comfort that where I live, in Wake County, the educated and diverse population, SO UNLIKE most of the remainder of the state, voted heavily Blue ,replaced EVERY member of the board of commissioners with forward thinking democrats AND passed a bond issue to continue to protect and expand our parks and greenway systems..

Is the one on the right a lance corporal?

If so, then the other one would be probably a Staff Sergeant, or Sergeant Major.
