Whatever happened to her due process, her right to freedom from cruel and unusual punishment?

The US legal standard is did she know right from wrong and somehow I question that she did not know that her actions that day was wrong including hitting the cop and yet she did so.

Yes she should be in treatment not charge with crimes driven by her illness but that is not the system we are under now and our jails and prisons are full of such people.

One thing I surely do know without question and that is she should never had been in a normal classroom.

Izzy, aren't you a social worker?

No, but I have worked as a teacher, and I know a lot about classroom management. What BillRM is suggesting costs, more than the budget of any of the state schools I've worked in. The last time I worked in a school Tony Blair was pm and the funding was a lot higher then than it is now.

If BillRM really wants the investment he suggests, he's going to have to put his hand in his pocket.

Well it does not take an expert to know that having such a person in a normal classroom interfere with the teaching of the other students!!!!!!!!
Well, it's different here. (You have to be a long-time, experienced teacher for children with special needs to make such an advisory opinion.)

I know/knew a number of such persons as well. To deal with them, to write opinions/reports, I had to undergo an additional qualification.

Different country, different culture ...

Besides that, I must have missed the verification of the mental illness of the girl, who is a victim of that officers slamming.

little jail time for assault and battery would be appropriate.

Nonsense he gave a legal order to leave the classroom backing up the teacher and the school principal and she refused that order so he have every right in the world to used force to removed her with special note that she hit him while he was doing so.

As far as her flying across the room that was her doing for hanging onto to her chair for dear life.

There is never an excuse for treating a vulnerable child so brutally.

Nonsense as when one student produced the kind of drama she did that day it shut down the teaching of mathematics or any other subject for the rest of the classroom while her needs are address.

She proven without question that she does not belong in a mainstream classroom.

Here is Bobsal posting concern her mental illness and she was the victim of her own behaviors in resisting a police officer not the police officer who was doing his job of enforcing his lawful order for her to leave the classroom.

It turns out that the victim has some mental health issues. She’s schizophrenic and bi-polar. When a person is diagnosed with both, it’s called schizoaffective disorder. The victim had been in treatment and was determined to have reached a point where she could attend public school. As you can imagine, a person with schizoaffective disorder isn’t going to act like everyone else at all times.

This child was 16 years old by the reports I had read and was tying up a classroom by her behaviors so I see zero wrong either legally or morally in using force to removed her.

Any harm she might had suffer was on her hands not the police officer.

@BillRM,
She was, and still is, a vulnerable child. The force was excessive. That's why he lost his job.

He lost his job for PR reasons and my bet is if he is cover by civil service rules and or a union contract a hearing officer will give him his job back in short order along with back pay.

@BillRM,
He's had no right to act outside the Constitution in the pursuit of his official office, something the SCOTUS has ruled about many, many times, TonyRM.

@bobsal u1553115,
LOL so it is now unconstitutional to used force to enforce a completely legal police order?

Sorry but never read such a SC ruling.

@bobsal u1553115,
I am damn sure that her family will turn her misbehaviors into a payday for themselves getting the school system insurance company to settle with them.

As far as the cop facing any charges forget it as it not going to happen and right now the girl and a classmate are the only ones facing charges an rightly so.

Footnote once more if the officer is cover by civil service or a union contract I see no way that the officer will not get his job back and back pay beside.

Ok would you like to made a small bet on the issue of if the fired officer is cover by civil service protection he will not be given his job back by any hearing officer?

In any other country the policeman's behaviour would be a criminal offence. Bill is an expert here, too.
