@Foofie,
"Any different than Northern Ireland? Presbyterians are not giving up their hegemony to the Irish Catholics, regardless of how long Irish Catholics lived in Hibernia."
Completely different situation, their differences a constitutional and political as well as religious.
The Catholic religion was instituted in Ireland by St Patrick, a Scot from Clydeside.
" And, like the Palestinians and Israelis, the Prebyterians are Celts also. There are many similarities, even to the fact that the English put the Presbyterians in Northern Ireland."
Presbyterians are Scottish religious group and they were not put into NI by the English. They are also a mixed breed of early German tribes, Dutch, Vikings and like the average Scot, are more Gothic than Celtic.
Around 1300, Robert the Bruce's brother was king or earl of Ulster.
The island of Ireland was first stocked/settled 10,000 years ago by people who went there from western England, Wales and Scotland. The Gaelic people landed there, mainly from Basque country, only about 600 years BC.
" ... - the Lord Mayor of Dublin, for many years, was a Jew."
So what, Myer Galpern, a Jew, was Lord Provost of Glasgow, a predominantly Protestant city, in my time."
