My girlfriend lives with me. I counted this weekend, and she has 108 different pairs of shoes. I'm CONSTANTLY tripping on them because they're laying all over the fuckin' place. We get in arguments about this, but I feel she won't listen to reason. I also think she buys shoes in secret and doesn't tell me because she knows it irritates me..
I own exactly FOUR pairs of shoes. Sneakers, slippers, boots, and dress shoes..

Hers. I'm not saying she can't spend her own money, but I've also seen the TV show hoarders, and I think if she didn't have a problem she wouldn't be hiding it. Sometimes there are so many shoes laying around that people have fallen over, or the door has gotten jammed in them. The least she could do is keep them tidy. I bought her a huge fuckin' rack for them, but she just leaves them all over the floor instead, and it's MY house.

Well, it's pretty obvious you want to hear from people telling you she owns too many shoes and this is a problem, etc. etc.

It's obvious I think she has a problem, but what I'd like to know is is this in the normal range for women? Is 108 pairs (that I know of) normal?

Yes, this is a normal range.
I would think seven pairs would be sufficient; one for each day of the week.

I have a friend who took more than that on a three day trip to Vegas. I thought that was a lot, but different things make sense to different people. She doesn't understand why I have several cameras <shrug>
