@bobsal u1553115,
You do realize that the majority of people making min wage are not families but are instead single young people? Min wage workers with families make up less then 15% of the total of min wage workers.

So we raise the min wage and in 5 years these same exact people will complain that $12 hr isn't enough and they need more. In that same time frame, those very people will have done nothing to improve themselves to be worth more money.

@bobsal u1553115,
Top job creation goes to North Dakota. Almost any energy producing state, in fact, all of them beat the US in job creation. This so called recovery sucks.

ANYONE working a 40 hour work week in the United States of America should be guaranteed a wage that will provide a very decent standard of living. That includes people who sling hamburgers.

Not everyone should be working. Some people simply are very marginally productive...and should be paid (by the government as an employer of last resort) to stay the hell out of the way.

And if a free enterprise/capitalistic economy cannot meet this goal...we should abandon it in favor of one that can, even if it means inventing something else.

Since when? Who owes those people a living? The answer is no one.

Humanity. And anyone who thinks otherwise is not a part of humanity...or at least, not an essential part.

@Frank Apisa,
Why do you ignore the stats? You have a feeling of the way things should be, but reality doesn't fit what you want. Sorry to say, but if you are in your early 20's and don't have any kids, then you have plenty of time and resources to make something of yourself. You don't have to have a college education to be successful, I'm proof of that. We already have enough govt control of our lives, and you want to give the govt more control.

Conservatism means ORTHODOXY.
From your post, it sounds as if u dont know that.
Conservatism means non-deviating, no cheating,
from the way it was in the BEGINNING (except as amended per Article 5).
Conservatism HAPPENED to America at the instant that the Republic was founded.
Your committment is to cheating, Frank.

@Baldimo,
Your eloquence and dedication to debate astounds, Baldimo.

It's abundantly clear that you are a flaming hypocrite. You ignore the facts that clearly illustrate the USA is a rogue criminal nation led by war criminals and terrorists. It's been this way since the usa's origins.

"I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902–1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents."

No, David. I am committed not to cheat. (Ask any of my golfing partners...and they will say that I am the most trustworthy of the group.)

I am saying that it is my opinion that American conservatism as now constituted...is the most disgusting excuse for a political philosophy that has ever polluted a society.

And I am only saying that because I have friends here who are American conservatives...and I really do not want to describe it with the intensity of the loathing I actually have for it...which is a great deal more passionate and negative than that description.

Show us a DNA test that supports your allegation.

IF u DO, then u will not appear
to be a victim of psychotic hallucination.

FOR THE RECORD:
Let me be very clear that I think "otherwise", as he puts it,
and I am very confident that Frank's allegation qua "humanity" has NO foundation in reality.

Not to quibble, David, but if you were actually interested in being "very clear"...you probably would not use that affected spelling...or the word "qua."

It counts in scrabble. So now you have been told to explain or prove something in an affected manner. It still means the same thing.

In golf, how MOTIVATED r u to cheat??
I do not allege that u NEVER tell the truth.
To the extent that u tell the truth, u r being conservative.
To the extent that u deviate from it, u r being liberal
(your protestations to the contrary not withstanding).

Therefore, u r convinced that the philosophy of communism and the philosophy of nazism were nicer
than the origins of Americanism (Sons of Liberty -- American Revolution, James Madison). Yes??
