@vonny,
Oh you're really missing out Vonny. I just looked on Youtube and there's a ton of the episodes there. The black and white ones.

The star of the show was Theodore "Beaver" Cleaver. He was always getting into scrapes, often turning to his older brother Wally for help. Wally was apt to say things like "Jeez Beav. Now dad's gonna holler at us"

I loved his parents, Ward, who though loving an understanding, could get pretty tough, and June who I think is the mother everyone wishes for.

How could you not love a show where one of the boys friends is names Lumpy Rutherford? Or Eddie "That's a lovely dress you're wearing Mrs Cleaver" Haskell.

@vonny,
Be precise on your search though Von.

I got a real shock when I tried.

@Lordyaswas,
Yeah, as June said "Ward, don't be so hard on the Beaver"

@vonny,
On a serious note, vonny, have you ever seen Southland?

If not, and you like fast moving believable "fly on the wall" type dramas, you'll like this one.

This is the first showing of the final series (you can get the earlier ones on dvd or downlaod. It starts on More4 on Thursday (13th) at 11pm, so if you have one of those set top boxes, set it to "record series".

Once you get in to the characters, you'll be hooked.

@Lordyaswas,
Thanks for the suggestion. Just googled it - sounds good! If it's available as a boxed set, I'll probably buy it - we don't have a set-top box, just Freeview. Still have The Shield, Prison Break and Lost to watch after I finish Breaking Bad, so no hurry.

Vonny, I had a freeview telly up until about a year ago, when someone suggested getting a box that can record stuff, pause live TV, rewind live TV etc., and we haven't looked back.
They are simply brilliant! Cheapish to buy, no subscription, easy to hook up to the TV and so simple to use.
It came in really handy at Xmas with all the various channels showing good stuff all at once. Watch one, record another. Record late night films so you can go to bed at a reasonable time amd watch the film later...press one button and record an entire series automatically.

Ours is a Humax, and it's brilliant!

@Lordyaswas,
The Humax set top box sounds good - we might invest in one later in the year.

Meantime - went shopping today, and finished up buying series 1 and 2 of Southland, and series 1 and 2 of Homeland!!!

Just remembered that I have the complete series of Lost tucked away somewhere - an impulse buy. No idea if it's even worth watching.

@vonny,
You'll need to watch episode 1 and 2 of Southland maybe twice to really get in to the fly on the wall style, and the speed of the whole thing.

Once you get in to the characters, I'm sure you'll love it.

Homeland is something I never got into, but hear that it was good.

All you want now is a rainy weekend. I wonder when we'll get one of those ........?

@Lordyaswas,
I blithely assumed I already had it on tape, no, it was Southcliffe. A C4 Drama about a gunman on a shooting spree in a Norfolk market town, quite harrowing actually.

@izzythepush,
Was that the one on about a year ago, with the guy who pretended to be a Marine?

@Lordyaswas,
Yes, he pretended to be SAS, but he failed the selection process.

On the last couple of episodes of Lost - have series 3 of Homeland to watch - but what then? Surely there must be some new series out on DVD in America that haven't reached British shores yet!

@vonny,
True Detective is brilliant. I'm watching it for a second time with my daughter who never saw it first time around.

@izzythepush,
True Detective - never heard of it before, but I just watched a trailer for it and it looks rather good. Thanks for the recommendation.
