Hazlitt: you said the following:
"I think, saying that if there is no absolute authority, then there is no absolute morality, and this implies that people are free to do as they like, which will result in chaos."
I understand how you arrived at that conclusion, but unfortunately it is an example of antinomy.
The earlier question (it wasn't a statement or conclusion) I asked was: "If the actions, thoughts and beliefs of Humanity can be what ever anyone wants, then who is to say, or decide, what any of us do is right, moral, or just?"
That's all it is - a question. I am not trying to imply anything within the question; I'm interested in explanations or opinions on the consequences of such a question.
Hazlitt: I omitted to say, "Welcome aboard!"
It's good to see you here, and I appreciate your input to this discussion.
If priests would confine their activities to molesting children, the world would be a safer place

Steve: Welcome back.
I was aware of the controversy surrounding Mr Chesney - there was a big announcement about it yesterday in Belfast.
Steve: Of course, I trust you weren't implying in your comment that the molesting of children is OK? or some sort of lesser evil?
Either way, priests practising pedophilia, or the alleged terrorist activities of Mr chesney, both are repugnant and certainly not indicative of Christianity.
No of course I don't think child abuse is ok. It is the worst thing that can happen to a child apart from murder...
The original question for this discussion was:
What would the World be like if JESUS had never been Born?
An extension to this question would be:
Would the World be any different if the birth of Christ wasn't celebrated in December?
...and three children were blown to bits apparantly by a bomb planted by a priest!
Do you mean not celebrated, or not celebrated in December?
Steve: thanks for that.
I wanted to give you the opportunity to clarify your comment - it could have been badly interpreted .
Steve: ...not celebrated in December.
Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to say I am not in favour of molesting children. Just for the record I'm not in favour of blowing children up either.
Steve: you're welcome.
Would the World be any different if the birth of Christ wasn't celebrated in December?
Are you doing research for a sermon Bib?
My short answer would be no. Sorry if that's not much help.
If Jesus hadn't been borned, then there would have been another!
He wasn't borned at Christmas, but Christmas could only be at the time of the rejoicing of his birth.
Hello Bill, nice to see you here.
When do you believe Jesus was born?
And why was 25 December chosen as His celebrated birthday?
Bill: you said, "If Jesus hadn't been borned, then there would have been another!"
What do you mean by this? Is there someone else that you have in mind?
