At about 1:50 a.m. Saturday, Coleman Dybul called authorities, saying he was asleep in bed at a residence, 117 N. Elm St., in Adams, when his girlfriend, Toni Voss, 27, of Adams, startled him, and he shot her with a shotgun he kept near his bed, according to a news release from the Adams County Sheriff’s Department.

A Des Moines man accidentally shot off the tip of his own finger while cleaning his gun, police said.

The portion of the finger flew across the room and hit the man’s mother, authorities said.

According to Des Moines police reports, the 22-year-old man was cleaning his gun around 6 p.m. Sunday. His mother was also in the room with him, police said.

Two men were shot by their own guns last weekend and a third attracted a police visit when he was pointing his new gun outside of Kohl's department store in Rapid City.

None of the men were arrested or cited, but police said the two men who suffered the self-inflicted wounds were treated at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

A Round Rock police sergeant is recovering after police say he accidentally shot himself in the foot at a training session this week.

It happened around 1:45 Tuesday afternoon, at the Williamson County fire range.

Sergeant Sean Johnson was taking part in a glock instructor workshop with about 40 people, when he shot himself in the right foot.

A fight between a father and son led to a gunshot being fired at an address between the towns of Vernonia and Mist on Thursday night.

It appears the two men were injured by the same bullet.

When deputies arrived in the 64000 block of Nehalem Highway, they found the father and son wounded by what they said was a single discharge of the rifle.

A 16-year-old Hillsdale boy is in stable condition after shooting himself in the face. The public safety director says the teen was found in the driveway of his home on Westwood street Tuesday afternoon. Police said he was home alone at the time. Foul play is not suspected

Pregnant Woman Accidentally Shot by Husband in Terrace Heights

A pregnant woman is being treated for a life-threatening gunshot wound after her husband allegedly shot her accidentally early this morning inside their Terrace Heights home.

Yakima County Sheriff's deputies say the woman, who is in her 20s, is in stable, but critical condition, following the shooting just before 6 a.m. at a home on the 4200 block of Nola Loop Road.

Investigators say the victim's husband, also in his 20s, believed his wife was an intruder. The victim's husband is currently cooperating with detectives.

A Friday night shooting victim may need to return to the scene of the shooting for a refresher course.

Shortly before 8 p.m., Memphis police received a call to the Rangemaster gun training facility at 2611 Mendenhall.

A man had been shot, according to a dispatcher.

A man who answered the phone at Rangemaster said he could not talk about a shooting nor confirm that there was a shooting. He then hung up the phone.

Within 15 minutes, police confirmed “an apparent accidental gunshot wound.”

A few minutes later, police added more detail. The victim was a 72-year-old man who was “purchasing a holster at the front counter. While putting the holster in (his) pants, his gun discharged striking him in the leg.”

A 21-year-old man is in critical condition after his friend accidentally shot him Friday night in East Frankford, police said.

Police arrived around 9:15 p.m. at a house on the 1600 block of Dyre Street for a "person with a gun" report, a police spokeswoman said. The 21-year-old man was lying on the ground on the third-floor attic of the house.

An 11-year-old boy was accidentally shot early Sunday morning when police say someone in a group he was with started playing with a gun.

The shooting happened at about 1:15 a.m. Sunday in the 3500 block of Larkwood Avenue, a release from Louisville Metro Police said. The 11-year-old was with several other juveniles outside a home on the street when another person in the group started handling the gun and it went off, hitting the victim in the side, the release said.

Franklin County investigators continue to look into the case of a man who brought a gun to Tate’s Creek Baptist Church that went off accidentally and so far, no charges have been filed.

Late last week, Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas said investigators are still talking to the man, who has not been identified.

Thomas said the man was carrying the gun in his right front pocket during church service when it fired.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an accidental shooting that occurred Saturday during a concealed carry class at the Smithers Farm, 2 Rollicking Hills, DeGraff.

Deputies were dispatched to Mary Rutan Hospital about 6 p.m. in reference to a woman who had sustained a gunshot wound.

They met with victim Caroline Roberts, 61, of 1502 W. State Route 245, West Liberty.

[1700 Queen City Ave. Tuscaloosa AL] TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- A 16-year-old boy was accidentally shot in the foot with a shotgun when he tried to pull the gun out of a closet, according to police.

The teen was cleaning out a closet in the 1700 block of Queen City Avenue around 12:20 a.m. Saturday when he knocked the shotgun over, said Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit assistant commander Lt. Lip Hart.

PITTSBURGH — A federal prison guard has been charged with shooting his own finger in a drunken attempt to remove his wedding ring during an argument with his wife at their northwestern Pennsylvania home, police said.

A criminal complaint said Bradford police were called just before 9 p.m. March 2 and were met by Alfredo Malespini III, 31, who told officers he was "trying to get rid of his wedding ring" and decided to "shoot it off." The Bradford Era first reported the shooting on Friday.

The gunshot badly mangled Malespini's finger, but didn't remove the ring, police said.

A Hanover, MD, man is dead after being hit by a bullet discharged from another floor of the home, police said.

Investigators said that Campe was visiting with the homeowner at the time of the shooting. Police said that the homeowner was handling a pistol on the second floor of the home when it discharged, the bullet passed through the floor and struck Campe, who was lying on the couch in the living room.

A 48-year-old Arnold man accidentally shot his gun into a neighbor's apartment in the 1400 block of Avion Ridge.

The man called Arnold police on Wednesday, March 6 to advise them of the occurrence. He told officers the bullet went through his wall into the neighbor’s apartment.

A Fort Mill man accidentally shot himself in the buttocks at the Steak 'n Shake restaurant in Rock Hill.

Around 8 a.m. Tuesday, the 29-year-old man was getting his jacket when he accidentally discharged his 9 mm semi-automatic handgun. The round struck him in his backside then went through the seat and struck the floor, according to a Rock Hill police report.
